The annual All Japan Kendo Championship happened today. For those of you who don't know, the AJKC is the highest level kendo tournament in the world.
I was really hoping Shodai would make a good showing, but he got knocked out in the first round unfortunately. Oh well, next year.
I was also looking at Takanabe, Teramoto and Uchimura. Tekanabe got knocked out pretty early, and Uchimura beat Teramoto in the semi finals, and came out with the finals victory as well. I'm not too upset with an Uchimura victory. He won 3 years ago, and his match against Shodai in that championship is one of my favorite matches of all time.
Kendo World is supposed to post the matches on their Youtube page soon, but ZNKR has already posted videos of some winning ippons on their page. It was definitely a well deserved victory for Uchimura.
