Am I the only one peeved that Game Freak changed Tin Tower to "Bell Tower?" I think that for continuity, the name should be kept and changing it would only lead to confusion. For such an integral part of the game, you'd think they'd at least try to keep this constant.

There is a thread about this sort of stuff I believe, but anyway:

Does it affect gameplay? No.

This name change is nothing, especially as from what I have heard, "Bell Tower" is a more accurate translation.

Bell Tower and Tin Tower are both acceptable translations. >_>

It bothers me a little, but in the end I really don't care, I'm not calling it anything but the Tin Tower, similarly to how I won't call the TR execs anything but Lance, Lambda, Athena, and Apollo. =3=

This thread begs to differ about your being "alone" on the issue.

Like I mentioned in that thread, Tin Tower's Japanese name has a double meaning, and can also mean Bell.

You are complaining that it has a negative effect on continuity. It doesn't. Going by HgSs' continuity, the fact that they changed how Ho Oh is summoned with the Clear Bell (and the fact that the tower itself is said to have bells in it), renaming it the Bell Tower is more consistent with the plot changes that no one seemed to have a problem with.

Furthermore, people who have played the originals have to be some new kind of breed of moron to be confused by its renaming when the tower is at the exact same place serving the same exact function. Newer fans will just get to know it as the Bell Tower. Honestly, if you want to complain about confusion, then go complain about how people in the English fandom equally refer to characters by both their English and Japanese names (yet seem to only use English for attacks), and that people either see all media incarnations of the character as the same being or separate entities.

tl;dr, there's no continuity flop.

Before anyone mentions the Tin Tower reference in D/P, yes one small reference totally breaks continuity /sarcasm

Besides, the fact that the Tin/Bell Tower were referred to by both names in-canon better reflects the original intention in the Japanese games that its name has a double meaning. Perhaps in whatever language they speak in the Pokemon World, the Tin Tower's original name also translates to mean to things.

Not really.

I'm more annoyed at the way the pokedex and item bag is set up. I've just barely started the game though, so I know I'll get used to it after a while.

Please discuss this in the thread Outrage linked to. Thanks.
