Amidst the usual video game champions on Amazon's Best Sellers List: Video Games, you might find something out of the ordinary. If you head south to around number 17, you'll see what I mean.

It appears that everyone's old video game flame known as the SNES is outselling Sony's Playstation 3 on Amazon.com. Wonder why? Here's my take:

* People aren't that interested in PS3s.
* Virtual Console games are giving people major cases of nostalgia.
* People are so frantic for the Wii that they'll get their hands on the closest thing.
* Someone is throwing a Mario Kart tourney and ordered a metric ton of units.
* Hell has frozen over.

In all seriousness though, this probably has more to do with the fact that there are ten times as many used, yellow-tinted SNES consoles floating around, but still an interesting sight nevertheless. – Alexander Yoon

Note: The list has been updated, and the PS3 has dropped to number 20, now behind Guitar Hero II and Oblivion.

Note pt. deux: The SNES/FC Twin monster is on its way to cracking the top ten and is hot on the tails of the Xbox 360. If it gets up there, then we officially live in Upside-Down Land.

Note pt. three: Welcome to Upside-Down Land.

Arseus's cross! That's hilarious!

Welcome to Upside Down Land. It's where people wear shoes on their hands and mittens on their feet! Cats give birth to puppies, crooks chase cops and hamburgers eat people!

Oh bless the souls of all Nintendo fans who walk the earth this day! Oh, man my friends aren't gonna like this one bit.

Anyone else getting tired of all the Sony flamebait threads on Internet forums these days? OK, so Sony is a bonehead company whose made one bad decision after another. We get it already.

Eh, it's hard to ignore when I can find a PS3 at any place I go to (and have been able to since December 27th), yet I haven't been able to find a single Wii (been looking since December 27th). Throw in all of the "PS3 is better, Wii sucks" crap that preceded its release, and it's really just balancing out the insults. But now with actual sales to back it up.

GrnMarvl13 Im quite suprised to here you cant find a Ps3 or a WII I dont know were in Ohklahoma (cant spell) you live but I live in neosho MO bout 1 and a half hours outa springfield and every walmart around here has ps3's. I went to target this last weekend and they also had 5 ps3s. they were all the 60 gig versions. Most of the gamestops around here also get frequent shipments of wiis. Anyways maybe take a road trip down to missouri cause we seem to have a surplus. I was gonna grab a ps3 but I heard a week ago on g4tv that sony is going to do a pricecut allready so im gonna wait till then.

After all the garbage and flak Nintendo fans took from Sony zealots during the N64 and Gamecube era, its only reasonable to assume we can have a little "payback" as long as its all in good fun. ;)

A year ago nobody could have guessed that the Wii would be outselling the PS3. The tables have turned, we're allowed to have a little gloating.

The part about SNES beating out the PS3 is at the most a very minor surprise to me as I expected the PS3 to be unpopular, with all the high prices and limited units and things like that, but beating the XBox 360...

...well, welcome to a world where shirts are worn on your legs, where underwear are worn on your heads, where the Sun shines at night and goes down in the morning, where you have three-course breakfasts and dinner cereals, where songs listen to you, where cars drive people and where buses board commuters :p .

OK, seriously, I believe that this is more attributable to a resurgence in interest for all things nostalgic. In fact, my local newspaper just ran a nostalgia special yesterday Oo .

I said that I can find PLENTY of PS3s, but I can't find a single Wii. And over the month and a half I've been searching for a Wii, I've never seen a Wii and never seen a store that DOESN'T have a PS3.

Believe me, I've scoured as large an area as I reasonably can. All of the local stores get, almost, weekly shipments of Wiis. I just get there too late to find one.

I'm glad I waited out on the 18th to get my Wii. Best idea ever. People kept asking us if we were waiting for the PS3, though.

Now I know I was right to say then "Who the heck would want a PS3?"
