How do you manage to get those anyway?
Mostly to prevent edges like that is to keep your paper flat, avoid coloring/erasing furiously near the edges. Tape helps you can't color under it, plus it may rip your paper.

The problem I face with taping paper is that when I remove it, I remove the rop part of the paper as well 
, leaving very ugly cuts. And I'd advice to use thicker paper, more special drawing paper. It works a bit against dog-ears, and it also give better quality drawings (at least that's what I think)
