An idea I have for the Generation V stat system (warning: big post)

I recently had a "wish I worked for Game Freak" moment, by coming up with an idea for a new mechanic of Pokémon breeding in Generation V, which would factor in the father's base stats in determining the offspring's IVs. That is, for any that in which the father's base is significantly higher than the mother/offspring's, the offspring's IV would be higher than normally possible, exceeding the current maximum of 31 and going as high as 63.

For example, a male Wobbuffet (base HP of 190) and female Gardevoir (base HP of 68) would produce a Ralts with an HP IV of at least 32.

Also, Pokémon bred with these super-high IVs would enable their own offspring to have IVs of 32 or higher in the same stats, plus any other stats in which their base is higher than the female's.

Continuing the previous example, if the Ralts mentioned above were male and evolved into a Gallade, and placed in the Day Care with a female Magcargo, the resulting Slugma would have 32+ IVs in not only HP (because of Gallade's high IV in that stat), but also Attack (Gallade's base of 125 vs Magcargo's of 50), Sp. Defense (Gallade's base of 115 vs Magcargo's of 80) and Speed (Gallade's base of 80 vs Magcargo's of 30).

We could then add Defense to the mix by taking this Slugma, if also male, evolving it into a Magcargo itself (base Defense of 120) and placing in the Day Care with a female Gastrodon (base Defense of 68), producing a Shellos with abnormally high IVs in every stat except Sp. Attack, in which Magcargo's base (80) is lower than Gastrodon's (92).

A Pokémon's summary screen would also give a rough indication of its IVs by displaying a number of stars next to each stat: no stars if the IV is below 16, one star if it's 16-31, two if it's 32-47, three if it's 48-62, and four for a perfect IV of 63. Or, they could simplify it by having one star for an IV between 32 and 62, and two for a perfect IV of 63. Though I doubt it, it may be possible that Game Freak is already doing something like this (though obviously with the current IV cap of 31) in the yet-to-be-officially-announced Gold/Silver remakes.

Now, what about Pokémon imported from the current generation? Each of their IVs, during the conversion to Generation V, would have a chance of being increased by 32, with the highest IV (the one used to determine its characteristic) being guaranteed to receive this boost. To keep the characteristics from changing, different patterns of IVs would be used for the new higher range, adding 32 to each IV in the lower range; for instance, "Mischievous", which currently indicates a Sp. Attack IV of 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, or 31, would be extended to also include 33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 58, and 63 (instead of 36, 41, etc.). The Hidden Power type would also move to a separate value, no longer determined by IVs except to keep if from changing during migration.

...And, that's about it, at least for now.
*wonders if Shigeki Morimoto is taking notes from any of this*

IVs over 31 by chain breeding ? Sounds pretty good but unlikely to happen since it makes the pokemon really strong. We dont need a wobbuffet with really high defences other wise it would take a tonne of hits and kill lots back.
