This is an actual Nintendo Magazine in Japan which speculated some interesting things. If you go into to it, their speculation and pattern reading isn't at all different from the western ways, hell they're exactly the same almost. The 2 parts which really got to me was the evolutions as they are the exact ones I want, and the regions, as even Japan is realizing we're running outta land.

Light and Dark, that would be cool. It would fit in perfectly with the addition of a light type if they finally go that route.

I wouldn't be against that. The addition of a light type could be neat, too. I'd like to see it avoid 'holy' type of stuff, and instead stay with actual light. In other words, I want to see moves like Flash become Light type, and not have the "Good" aspect people keep assuming it would get.

I don't consider it very interesting that the "intuitive" editors of a Japanese Nintendo magazine are quite like the average western fan. The only possibilities they brought up that are a little unorthodox or bold, are time travel and moving out of Japan's map. I happen to be in favor of the former (though I don't see why a new HM would be necessary), but I don't find the latter very appealing at this point, since there are still two regions left that could benefit from being connected to previous regions. Overall, I think that after four regions, a change of time period would be more beneficial than simply changing the scenery again and leaving it at that.

SEE? Even they say a time capsule system is probably what is going to be used.

Interesting speculation. I mean, I've already speculated on that stuff but its still nice to see some other party's ideas.

Their evolution speculation was kinda boring though. All three of those are pretty much par for course as far as oft requested evolutions.

Still, I honestly would love to see them base a region off an area outside of Japan, maybe a condensed version of America since it could offer up a large range of diverse cities, environments, and game-wise since America irl if a country full of immigrants, maybe reflect that by having the region filled with Pokemon from all over who had been imported and integrated into the ecosystem.

Their idea to be able to dig into the ground sounds interesting, not the HM part, but being able to dig into the ground for items or something (maybe Pokemon), it would probably be better than the underground, since you don't have to worry about the wall collapsing.

Maybe even limiting it to a special area that's just dirt with no foliage, perhaps calling it the "Treasure Graveyard."

I missed that option in some RPG's (obviously not Pokemon since they never had that option) where you get dig for items.

Not sure they'll ever implement the idea, but it would be nice nonetheless.

I love how they want evolutions of Pachirisu, Sableye, and Dunsparce, since it almost sounds like they know they get evolutions, and was hinting at it. I don't think any other "nationality" would be able to pull that off.

I kind of like the titles of "Light" and "Dark" but it makes it seem like Zoroark is going to get more screen time. And I'm not sure how they'd be able to pull of the Light version without a light type, I'm not sure psychic would work, nor would normal. And while yes the dark type is the evil type in Japanese, I still don't think they'd be able to pull it off.

Pretty intresting, but they could have given is a deeper insight into the evolutions

While I don't have the magazine nor could I say for sure, I think it's because they didn't have enough space for a more in-depth explanation for evolutions. They probably only had room for 3 Pokemon, a brief summary as to why they chose those Pokemon.

I think, digging in certain patches of dirt allowing you to explore pre-set tunnels like how Dive let you explore certain areas of the ocean, would be pretty neat.

Use it on manhole covers in the city, and get access to the city's sewers, where the evil team is up to no good?

Pokemon like Muk and Koffing could be there, easily.

Oh yeah, I forgot I wanted sewers in...

Oh come on, a lot of media has it. Even the show does.

that was very interesting. I liked the shining sun/ darkness moon thing.

my favorite line was 'Pocket Monsters' completely new games!

Huh, as a Nintendo Magazine, and I suspect its kinda official in a way(?) think maybe they were hinting at stuff?

I hope so, but only time will tell. They are some interesting ideas.

No! Do NOT jump to that conclusion! They're speculating just as much as we are. They have no authori-tay over actual info.

That being said, the similarities in speculation come as no surprise. Repeated themes and overuse of certain decisions leads us all in the same direction. These tropes become blatantly obvious, so much so that even Game Freak themselves won't be able to deny them.

2 titles. Legendary Pokemon not evolving. Trading with previous versions. Number of years between releases. The number of Pokemon created. Right now, Game Freak is either going to deliver on our assumptions for the 5th time or completely turn our thinking upside-down (and they can do both effortlessly).

They speculate about a digging HM... Seems like Sinnoh would've been perfect for such a function, what with there being an entire underground portion. But even that falls into the valley of expectations. They say, "what new HM's are we going to get", rather than say, "Will they overhaul the HM system?" The functions of the game are so ingrained in our thinking that even Nintendo Magazine editors in Japan automatically start thinking in a predetermined way.

Did this magazine ever said something that turned out to be right? Their evolution suggestions are interesting and so is the idea of the versions being something about light/dark... could the two mascots be something like Darkrai/Cresselia?

I doubt Gen V would use Gen IV characters as its mascots. That would be like Gold and Silver having Mew and Mewtwo on the boxes.
