Brendan in Ruby and Sapphire looks quite a bit like the male Cooltrainers in 2nd Gen.

Good idea

The lady in the contest hall at the desk has the exact hairstyle as Alyssa from the Houen Skitty episode.

Also for the topic at hand:

Every Dragon Tamer follow's Lance's fashion sense, and the fourth generation ones have even begun trying to do his hair style.

Handsome also looks like the PI trainer class
 
I know, but the resemblence still isn't far off, then again, its probably just the trench coat and the serious look.
