Silly me.
I've made 4 posts prior to this one, and I haven't even introduced myself until now! This is what happens when you get caught up in discussions about possible Gen V Eeveelutions...
Anyway...good morning, good afternoon, or good night, wherever you may be. I am FusengerShadow, known in many other places around the digital realm as Shadowbird712, DarkSoldier712, or just plain Shadow (or even SB). I'm an old fogey by 'net standards, as I am 25 and have been around the 1s and 0s for well over a decade. My gaming journey stretches back as far as the original NES, and my Pokémon journey goes back all the way to the beginning, at least the North American beginning, with Red and Blue.
Back when my local K-mart still had display units of the latest console and handheld games, I remember coming across a very unique-looking top-down RPG for the Gameboy where it was not the main character that fought, but his pet creatures. I remember spending several minutes at a time probably messing up my neck looking upward at the TV screen to which the Gameboy was connected, trying to get as far as I could before the timed-reset kicked in. I remember enjoying it, despite the neck pain it game me then.
I also remember when the Gameboy Pocket and Color came out about at the same time. I distinctly remember opting for the pocket version rather than the color, which in retrospect probably wasn't a great decision, as it limited the games I could play. But I had my parents buy it and Pokémon Red, and I played it until the batteries ran down. (Needless to say, I started playing it with the AC adapter plugged in as much as possible after that.)
I didn't get to play the Gen II games as much as I'd liked, at least not until much later (and um, only after the GBC's obsolescence, so I had to play them "creatively"), and I missed out on Gen III almost entirely (I did get to play them a little bit, but I wasn't impressed). However, as birthday present allowed me to be able to come back to Pokémon in the 4th generation, with Pearl, which renewed the love that I'd all but forgotten. That love was displaced for a period of time after said birthday DS disappeared while coming back from a trip, but when I was able to buy myself a new DSi, the first game I picked up for it was Platinum. The third new game I bought? SoulSilver (Lugia's one of my favorites). (Btw, the second was Kirby Super Star Ultra. Shh. Don't tell anyone.)
tl;dr version
