So, today I got a pre-owned version of SoulSilver. I'm stoked--I've been waiting since Leafgreen came out for these remakes and I find it for $29.99. I get home and there is another save file. Which is fine, sometimes people forget to clean off the cartrige, and I take a look at it to see how the previous owner was doing.
Holy f*king SH*t balls he was doing well.
He had shiny pokémon coming out the wazoo, and event pokémon and others that I could never hope to get my hands on, since I only had the money for one Gen IV game.

But, this presents a problem. I bought the game to play from the beginning. I also want the Pokémon that I would never have if I had not looked at the save file.

I have no one that lives near me who owns a DS and one of the compatible versions.

Could someone perhaps assist me in shuffling the pokémon over?

That should be all of them. The man had a pokédex of 142, so yeah. You want it, he had it somewhere. and this doesn't count the daycare pokémon.

Have you checked to see if they are actually legit? A lot of people hack legends/events/etc...

^ Yeah, the first thing I think when I see one of these is that they're probably hacked.

And seriously, they work well enough. I'm just glad that they exist and I can actually have them.

Check where the events were met, and the levels met for all the legendaries.
Also, check if the previous owner was the OT for all the shinies.

May I ask how to check?

There really isn't a short answer to that question. Hack checking can be as easy from seeing if the Pokemon has an improper location obtained or OT, and as complex as examining the Pokemon's code with a computer program.

For event Pokemon, like Mew, Deoxys, and Arceus, you can compare all their information to an event database to see if it lines up. Most events will never have an OT/ID that matches the actual player.

Generally you want to check the entire status page to make sure the location caught at is legal, that it has legal stats and moves, isn't missing any ribbons (in the case of some events), etc.

In reality, you would have to go one by one to get an idea of which ones would be hacked, but if they are all from one person and you see some bad apples, you could probably assume most of the stuff is bad.

Ok, all of them have the prevous owner as the OT (at least the Legendaries, somne of the Shinies were traded, and the Event Pokémon have their proper "met at" tags.

Everything seems in order.

Interesting,
but just for clarification, these are all up for offer, and anything not traded will be shuffled over to your new game?

To be more precise, any of these are potentially up for trade.
Rarity and Shininess drive the price higher.
Example: I have a shiny Growlithe. I don't care about Growlithe, even if the damn thing is shiny. But I do at least want it bounced over for Pokédex reasons, but really, you can have it if you have something decent to offer (like a well-bred and/or shiny Spinarak).

Now, a Caveat: because the WFC center downstairs is closed for the first part of the game, you will be hanging on to these for a bit. Then, you can decide which ones you like, which ones aren't worth it, etc.
This sucks for me because I have to trust that whomever I'm trading with won't be a dick and just take all of them.
However, I can promise that you will get to keep some of them, just for helping.

However, I must point back to my original statement that all trades will be negotiated on an individual basis, prior to any shuffling or trading.

Does this clear things up for you?

Do you want to transfer every one over? Because I would love to help but I don't think I have enough pokemon that I can just trash to hold onto all of those

EDIT: I could probably just go Bidoof hunting tonight and catch enough to serve as trading fodder

No, not every one--just the shinies, the legendaries, and all pokémon not found in SS.This cuts the list in at least half. So, roughly a box and mabye one-half box (at most) should be going over, unless you want some of the others. And yes, the game can handle that many he has 4-5 full boxes, the game can hold 18 boxes worth. But, seriously, Why would I want 8 gastly. Or 3 Onix? he has quite a few duplicates.

Okay, has the growlithe been trained at all?
If yes then how much? Also, what is it's nature and ability?

I'd be interested in that and the Regi trio. I can offer anything from these 2 threads

(IV bred + Egg Moves):http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=67635

(Egg Moves): http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=64175

Also, do you have the nature for that shiny Metagross? I'd be interested in a 1 for 1 shiny trade, and my opening offers would be either a UT shiny Bagon, or an EV trained (Attack and Defense) shiny Mawile with the egg moves Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, and Punishment.

so the shinies arent for offer? shoot :( but i can still help you out! and that's pretty sweet, but how did they get soo many shiney's O. o? some people get all the luck. I have only a shiny pidgeot to brag about. which isnt much considering it has a serious nature and a horrific speed IV.... but at least I've got one right?! :D
