Take in mind I don't support or endorse bootlegs in any way, I just accidentally bought one off of ebay and decided to make a post about it. I don't expect any sympathy at all, this is just a review.

Well I own Diamond, and Platinum, I wanted to make a new game but definitely didn't want to delete my file on either game. I really didn't want to pay retail price so I seen a copy of Pokemon pearl listed for $15 with free shipping.

So about 2 weeks pass and I get a package from “hong kong” which didn't set well with me because the seller claimed to be from California. I opened the package and noticed that the box was clear see through instead of the black typically associated with US releases. The box art looked pretty normal to me, but when I opened it I noticed a DS cart with a blurry poorly printed sticker on it, and a manual that looked like it came out of a color xerox machine, although it was there... all 60 pages (I was shocked!). But none of the Nintendo warning papers or adds were there like you would normally expect from a new game.

I was pretty sure it was a bootleg at this point... but regardless I popped it in the DS and booted it right up. I started the game, and as soon as I got past the intro I saved to make sure that the game saved properly. It just sit there saying “Saving a lot of Data” I was starting to worry that the game had frozen, because several minutes had passed and it still said “Saving a lot of Data” Which was very annoying, but it did eventually go through. I shut the DS off, and turned it back on several times, the save file was still perfectly in tact.

The Good-

-Works like a real DS game

-Included full color manual

-Online modes seem to work fine

The Bad-

-It takes about 1 full minute for a normal save, (no exaggeration) almost 5 minutes for “alot of data” While it does save it takes so long some people might question if the game has frozen. Expect to take a smoke break or get something to eat in between every save.

- May not work with DSi, or so i've been told.

- Does not work with Action replay, it doesn't detect a cart in the slot

Moral of the story: Don't buy video games off the internet.

I'd rather pay full price than face that kind of thing. I was freaked out when my first attempt to save my Platinum game lasted nearly a minute (on a non-bootleg copy, saving a lot of data after that lasted less than 10 seconds), five minutes would drive me insane.
