I am pleased to announce that we have finally broken* through the encryption on the Diamond and Pearl graphics and have a full collection of Pokémon graphics (excluding alternate forms (i.e. Unown B - Z, ! ?), including shinies) and trainer graphics.

For the Pokémon, the female variant comes first. (Just like Nidoran♀ comes before Nidoran♂.)

Special thanks to Eevee for staying up till 6AM for several nights to get the breakthroughs we needed.

Thanks also to pika and Pipian for their efforts to break this puzzle.

You are free to use these graphics for any purpose starting October 12, 2006. Special permission may be granted on request.

*: well, the algorithm is not perfect just yet - there were two problematic sprites but fortunately an older version of the program was able to decrypt those fine.
 
Sweet! Thanks a bundle for the hard work. And you've got trainer sprites, too! Now I've gotta save 'em all ^^, but I'll wait 'till the 12th to do it. Jeeze, that Lucario trainer guy looks exactly like Aaron.
 
Seeing as the alternate forms are absent from the Pokémon sprites collection, is it possible that some trainer sprites are also missing? I am asking this for it has been reported that there are trainers named Butler and Diane in the game, possibly a double battle duo, who even use the respective anime characters' Pokémon.

It would not be outrageous for the characters not to be represented by unique sprites, but looking at this, I find myself wondering why that should be the case.

On another note, these two are the only errors I have been able to find.

There are no other files that obviously contain trainer graphics; the situation with the alternate forms is that we know where the graphics are, and, yes, have even been able to decrypt them, however, the problem is matching up the graphics to their colour palettes.

On that note... I would like to mention that Arseus has some alternate graphics, though I cannot see any difference. (The coloration is probably different - and since we haven't managed to match up the colours, we can't really say anything about that.)

That's not Aaron, not by name anyway. According to Coronis his name is Gen.

I do not believe those are errors -- though it is quite unusual. Without seeing the animated back view myself I can't say what it is.

You know Justin, I would be very grateful if you stop trying to stir up trouble with Serebii here. If you don't like him or his site, simply don't go there.
