Debate your heart out. I sue hope this thread doen't die because there is RAGE going on out in the world concerning Nessie, Sasquatch, and "The Little Green Men." The list goes on. Alien Greys, Men In Black, The Jersey Devil, Ogopogo, and probably more foreign ones I haven't heard of. Pretty much any creature not proven nor disproven with eyewitness sightings. Let's start off with a topic-

The Loch Ness Monster ("Nessiteras rhombopteryx")
AND THE SURGEON'S PHOTOGRAPH IS PROVEN AS A HOAX.

My theory here is plesiosaur. It's a strong possibility that however prehistoric life was wiped out missed a strong majority of aquatic life. Alligators for example- back in the day of dinosaurs, yet still alive today. There's no logic disproving that a group of plesiosaurus survived the fatalities of the dinosaurs.

I hope this thread grows, because cryptozoology is a very interesting topic.

Also, the recent discovery of the "Megamouth Shark", hints that their may be more large aquatic animals that are yet to be discovered.

Well im not an expert on the topic but im positive that there is evidence about them also a lot of folklore is somehow related to them, i'll get some info about this topic and then we'll have a conversation.

^I've defenitley heard of them. ^^And yeah, I sure hope it grows too because like I said, I have seen flaming arguments considering these gems. Aliens especially.

"Recent?" It was discovered in the '80s.

They caught one in March of this year, near Cali.
They must've said it was the first one found around there, and I misread ^_^

Ah, Nessie. I have seen countless programs on it, but none found any evidence whatsoever of anything large living in the lake, but that is not to say it isn't possible. As for a plesiosaur, the question remains exactly how one could've found it's way in there. There is also a bunch of stuff saying that the environment of Loch Ness is impossible to support such a creature. I say that we find creatures that were thought extinct a lot, so if there is anything unusual in there, it sure hides well. I didn't see the special questioning whether Nessie is still there, as the most credible evidence was made 16 years ago. (I could be wrong about that)

I admit that there may have once been a large aquatic animal (possibly even a plesiosaur) living in Loch Ness in the past 200-1000 years. However, with the study of the Loch's current environment in the extreme cessation of sightings in the past 50 years lead me to believe that if there was one in there, it's extinct by now, sadly.

Pokemon are real, and they sleep in my closet and my underwear e_o

He's not a believer, Jabber. He's mocking us. From now on when a non-beleiever mocks us, we're gonna go like this: "TTTTTTPPPPPPPHHHHHHT!!!" TTTTTTPPPPPPPHHHHHHT!!! and we're gonna post ridiculously obvious cryptid "proof" to make them hostile:

Isn't this fun?

Do I think there's undiscovered species? Yes, do I also think some may be these cryptids? Possibly =D
I think that some plesiosaur like animal may be lurking in the waters of the ocean, not necessarily Loch Ness though. I do think there may be an ape-like animal that has yet to be discovered in the Himilayas and Forested Areas of North America, you just never know.

I would love for Nessie to be real, but I doubt it (partially for the reasons Zeta gives above). Scientists have discovered heretofore unknown species in the jungles of Borneo recently, so anything's possible.

I am intrigued by the possibility of Champexisting.

Yeah, overly large fish always seemed more plausible (because, you know, people ACTUALLY FIND THEM from time to time) than the Loch Ness Monster. Though I've started keeping an eye on in-land shark reports. Less of a cryptid, but still very cool.

I used to believe the Loch Ness Monster existed, but the more time that goes by without any sort of good evidence, the less I think it's real. Still holding out hope for bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti, though. Just because that would be awesome.

Wow, I just got into Cryptozoology (reading random articles online), and so far it's been the most intersting topic I've delved in to. This has potential to be a wicked awesome thread ;D !

Anyway, on topic, I'd love nothing more than for Nessie, or for any cryptid, to be proven to exist. But, as a few of you said, the more time that passes without real evidence just leads me to believe that it's nothing more than a myth, or even an original hoax gone out of control. I think if Nessie existed, she'd have shown herself by now.

However, things like The Bloop and Slow Down give very interesting, enigmatic, and even compelling evidence that there really are giant sea creatures out there that we have never seen.

Yeah, there's certainly giant sealife out there (giant squids, anyone?), just a matter of what it is, and where it is.

"In-land shark reports"? You mean reports about species like the bull shark that can survive in freshwater as well as saltwater?
