Captain Marvel or, as it will apparently be called: Shazam!

Source with a bit of info on DC's plans to massively push Captain and Mary Marvel.

Of interest, this weekend Jake Gyllenhaal denounced the rumor that he was playing Captain Marvel in a Captain Marvel movie. Obviously a coincidence, but still fun.

Sha...Shazam?

Wasn't that also the name of a movie with Shaq as a Genie???

Was wondering how long it would take until someone mentioned that film. Yes, that was a Shaq film. But it has absolutely no relation to the comic character. His Steel, however, WAS based on the comic character named Steel.

Here is a good page on Captain Marvel.

DC Database Project is a good info source as well.

Awesome. This actually fits with the younger demographic, seeing as how the main characters are 12 and most of the adventures are surreal fantasy and comedy stories. I can actually see this coming out being very true to the source.

I'd say this would be the spirtiual successor to Ben 10 if not for the fact that Ben 10 is already getting a sequel series.

Captain Marvel's always been extremely confusing for me. What an annoying name. >=O.

As with most DC characters, it gets a big meh on my part really.

I wonder why Marvel comics has only been able to produce one or two good cartoon series while everything else sucks, while DC comics animation are all at least mediocre to fantastic . . .

It is? How many episodes are left of normal Ben Ten?

*big fan*

It's easier to ruin good material than it is to make bad material look better. ;)

Habunake, Ben 10: Hero Generation will start in Spring 2008 if you were wondering, so that should give you a good idea. There'll also be two movies in 2007: One cartoon and one LIVE-ACTION!

16 between now and 2008, plus two movies. Then there's a timeskip and a new series starring teenage Ben and Gwen training half-alien kids.

Captain Marvel, he is responsible for one of my favorite episodes of Justice League Unlimited. This won't be nearly as fun as watching him piss Superman off, but It might be worth watching if it's done right.

Funily enough, in one episode of Ben 10, Grandpa Max wears Captain Marvel pajamas. XD

Apparently the original image is just an image done by a guy at UDON Studios. There is no planned Captain Marvel series. But DC's still planning on marketing the hell out of him, and they want WB to do a movie based on him. I'm shocked. Usually a reliable rumors column, though I didn't check the probability icon for it. Might have been low from the start. Eh. No big deal.
