Looks like next month ACWII will be finally announced.

Stuff I want:
* More personality types for the villagers than just the six from the last few games.
* Lots of motion controls for stuff like fishing and butterfly catching.
* A flower/plant section of the museum to open.
* Bring back some of the landmarks from the GameCube game - the Police Station, Fountain, Island, Lighthouse, and Dump. Just for variety's sake. Split the cafe into it's own building too and give you the option to work there
* Connectivity with the DS version so I can port over my Bells and house and expand it further. Maybe even my entire DS village. And the return of the basement.
* Return of Holidays, decent ones.
* Maybe the ability to keep a simple, Nintendog-style pet or maintain your own personal aquarium or terrarium.
* More visitors to the village.
* The ability to have a more detailed garden and decorate the outside of your house.
* A wifi auction house were people can trade items for bells or vice versa.
* More errands and ways to make money.
* Some "event plots" that are little quests that happen randomly. Like fixing up town after an earthquake or a dinosaur visiting the village or some cool stuff like that.
* Easier management over who lives in your town and who is kicked out or moves away. Such as buying the deeds to the other house in the village so you don't get a village full of bitchy cats.
* More stuff to collect, like a jewel and rock collection, stamps, coins, and trading cards.
* An expanded town square with a little market where the characters gather more.
* More dialog for all of the characters.
* An album of all of the items you've collected and all of the characters who have lived in your village and a little paragraph on each that can be accessed at any time.
* Greater variety of plants.
* Areas around the village to explore. A farm, a mountain, a beach, a cave, and a forest.

Oh my god do I have a huge want list for the new Animal Crossing. I made it about 2 or 3 years ago, but this is the summery:

*Significantly Larger Towns. Significantly larger, and a simulation-like development of your town as with simplified districts: downtown, outskirts, residential.
As you contribute to the town, and as time passes the town grows and places expand. You might find taller buildings begin to emerge downtown, that eventually become skyscrapers, and houses that boarder the downtown change into simple apartment buildings, holding two or three families. With the increase in size comes more residents. I can't remember my numbers exactly but I think I had set the global maximum amount of families at 50 (it was somewhere between 25 and 50).
I say "global maximum" because a player won't get 50 right away, if your town stays a town it'll stay small forever. The maximum keeps the size small, apartments go up in the downtown or residential borders (when a city develops, doubling the size from 25 to 50 possible residents) to downtown and most houses around that (like a target) for most residents. Then occasionally one, two, or three residents may live in the outskirts. The outskirts are to keep the nature feel in all animal crossing games regardless of the size of the town that you have.

*You also get to choose from a set of themes (determined by question "So, where is this <*> by?" in taxi interview): mountain top, deep forest/jungle marsh, the beach, a valley lake, farmlands and countryside, or the desert (or an island, which ever people would like more)

This also effects the seasons that you see in your town. It doesn't snow as often in beach towns, and it might not ever snow in the desert or on an island. I think I also mentioned that it could get the weather from the Internet connection to determine the weather in your town by aligning it with a random point on the globe or by a player's choice, but now I think as long as the simulation is made, it will be good enough.

*Each town gets it randomly generated landmarks offering things from big and fancy rocks and statues, to caves, islands, and forests to explore. Some even having things such a rare plants or items found only inside.

The main idea in this was to give players a place to explore. Maybe making the terrain in some parts harder to navigate by yourself influencing a player to connect locally or online with friends to explore it together.

*Vehicles and verity of modes of transportation you can by and control with the Wiimote and different shells ranging from bikes, skateboards, and roller skates, to motorcycles, cars, and boats. Some with minor extra abilities like doing simple tricks on the self powered ones.

Of course the vehicles also would have different purposes. There would basically be three classes, although the appearances may be different: for travel, for fun, and motored. Bikes and such can go off road and help you to move faster across the larger terrain. For fun, while you can go faster than running, let you do simple tricks. I mean around the level of the trick bike in pokemon, but maybe a bit more. Simple kick flips, manuals, and wheelies can be done. Motored vehicles are of course the fastest, and let you move around town quickly. You also can take other characters and players for rides on them and can take them to the online component (the one that I forgot to say)

There is an online hub that is past the gate. It is the big People City (or what ever cute name that would be named to give a similar meaning) It is the big city you originally came from in story, but in reality is a mini hub online component run by Nintendo that has many more stores and allow you to meet strangers and friends to trade and sell items to people all over the world. You also have to go through this hub to travel to other people's towns. There would be a freeway system that you drive which is essentially a binary tree sorting out your friend's towns. This was also a method of balancing the game such that it made it harder to go to your friends place and stock up on foreign items your first weekend to make bank. Though, I also considered giving the option of visiting by train, which allows you to buy a ticket and use a list to select to travel without needing your car. (but you have to pay for it now)

The other online component that's more of a new idea is that instead of making the whole town into a channel to make it online all the time, only make a channel that contains the data on your house. That is very much large enough as it is, but the reason I'm against the whole town being online is that it would gimp the whole gameplay as to being more of an Animal Crossing 1.9, still not a true sequel, but another upgrade. (More of the same across the board, even limiting new items and people) The rest of the town info could be retrieved in save data, letting you get your mail and occasionally letting a neighbor come over (or a friend as well) Going as far as letting the character look at the window and see the weather going on. This also would allow other players to visit your town whenever they want (if you are connected) because they have the rest of the data on their disk.

I also want to see the message in the bottles come back again, letting you send the messages to random people. Also with the new item to have in your house, a telephone and answering machine letting you leave short messages to online friends or to open a chat between them. (Letters being for longer messages)You also could call NPCs in a manner similar to the Sims, giving you simple options to chit-chat talk or to invite over.

*Better AI and Dictionaries for the NPC characters. This includes better memories of characters, letting them bring up past neighbors and other characters they have meet in conversation as well as allow you to still mail neighbors that have moved out. Also bringing up an idea of allowing relations between NPC and player characters, the idea of friendship and romance is developed a little more. (not in a perverted since, but more of a cute one) You can make friends with NPCs or get into relations with them and it allows them to act differently around you.

I also want to add that I liked the chat animations added in Wild world, and would like to see a return and more with this idea of friendship and romance in mind. (but I'm not sure if I want the romance to go past a kiss on the cheek. That'd be innocent enough for most. Also you can develop relationships between players, so you can have mom and dad, when they play, still be married in the game or what ever you like)

*Families over Neighbors. Besides just including a lot more NPCs the NPCs should have relations to other NPCs and create instances such as families which could include multiple NPCs to live in a single house. Also giving age differences to certain characters. They don't need to actually show the numbers, but maybe align characters to certain groups: infant, child, young adult/teen, middle-aged parent, elderly. This also brings about the idea of NPC visitors. You may have some NPCs visiting that are only relatives to other NPCs. It also brings up family trees of having past current and future neighbors that are related to another neighbor and even reference them in the future.

I think I made the maximum family size around 5/6. I'm not against large families but I thought the potential for overpopulating the towns would be too high if I let there be families of 7 or 9. Besides, there still would be only 4 players per town. I like that the players had separate homes in the original so I want that to return as well, but the option to live in one house should be available. I don't think I had a limit on non-resident NPC family members.

*Many different types of Shops this time. With the idea of many more items added to the game, would give rise to specialty shops. There would be a wide amount of specialty shops besides the Nook's General Store that appears. Of course, even with the most developed town, it isn't possible for one town to have every type of store. So this would also help to influence travel to other people's towns. this opens up to another major idea that I had wanted:

This is where I got really in detail, I don't remember a lot of it, but many ideas I had and forgot to mention were in this. So I'll go into detail on them here as well, hopefully I remember most of the things, and that it is coherent.

First there are specialty shops of the main items nook sells: paint shops, carpet shops, clothing stores (the Able sister's is now a specialty shop), hardware stores (specializing in tool sells), electronics and furniture stores. Each selling new and more focused items that even Nook may not get (like paint patterns and such)

Then there are new stores based off of expanded ideas: There are Car lots and sports stores (Places that sell the new vehicles, with Car lots selling motored vehicles and the sports stores selling the rest)

A Boat shop that sells boats. One idea I forgot to expand on was the idea of the boat, you can own your own now and go out to explore the coastal area giving you access to secret coves and islands in your town. There are essentially 4 types of boats. The row boat which is the cheapest and most basic. (Originally I said you get this from Gulliver the seagull after doing a mini quest with him) It doesn't go as far or fast but you can explore with it and go deep sea fishing. Then there is the speed boat, Fishing Boat, and the Yacht. All of these you could paint and customize as you like. The Speed Boats let you go fast, but lacks storage space for when you fill your pockets. The Fishing Boat comes with the storage facilities allowing you to store more fish you catch and items you find until you get the chance to get back. Yachts, in a way, can do both. They are the most expensive, but can go fast (though not as fast as a speed boat) and have a single room inside that you can decorate how you like. You can even save inside of a Yacht if you place a journal inside.

Then there are bait shops (though you can buy some of this in the boat shops as well). The Deep Sea fishing is a different kind of fishing than the normal. As opposed to the timing game this would be more similar to Twilight Princess's style. (Coincidentally) You can buy different types of bait to attract different kinds of fish, as well as different types of rods that are better at different kinds of things. (like better with sinking lures, stronger rods, or rods with longer twines, etc)

Another new type of shop was the Arcade, this was a way to bring in some new mini games from the Wii in carnival games (like bumper cars, whack-a-mole, and kart racing) as well as bring back retro games... but since there is the VC.. this could be used for game demos like SSBB instead. There also could be game systems you can get for your house where you can access your VC games that you own from inside of AC.

There are grocery stores, farms, and cooking shops for the new cooking elements. Cooking Shops sell the tools and appliances. Farms give you access to new fruits and vegetable that don't grow in the wild, and grocery stores that give you access to meats and processed foods like milk and cheese. (Yes, pigs and cows are also towns people, but just think that it is different)

Then there are Aquarium and Beatles shops. A new feature I forgot to state was the ability to make an aquarium and put in a verity of fish. (While still getting to change the plants and rocks) You also can feed the fish and clean the tanks like a mini virtual pet sim. There also is a second pet sim in collecting Insects. Some insects can be used for beetle battling. You raise them and keep them happy and healthy. You can buy certain types of food to enhance there abilities (attack, speed, and defense) and then take them to battle others. You can cheer them on, giving them a little stamina boost, but they fight on their own. There also would be competitions and tournaments in the summer and such. You also can name and breed them to get the perfect beetle. (Essentially it is a simplified pokemon)

Then there are social shops now such as cafes and restaurants where you can go with multiple people to stay and chat. Then there are bakeries where you can buy food and such.

There were many other ideas I had that I just can't remember, like I thought a bookstore would be another one, but I can't remember what good it was. (maybe it can contain manuals/recipies and things to stack in book shelves)

*Jobs, NPCs now have jobs. There are many kinds of jobs, although most are different only by labels. NPC neighbors run all of the specialty shops around town, as well as some places "business only". Things like office jobs and Newspaper companies, things that a limit access of the player. However with the new friend system you are actually allowed to visit sections of these places. (The buildings for these look large, but the insides usually consist of one or two rooms anyways, so the size these would take up would still be small) That's not all, players also can get simplified jobs. There are a handful of types of jobs a player can get, although not as fancy as the NPCs, each opens a kind of mini-game to be performed once daily (or whatever the job states) Most of these jobs would parody work of real jobs like sweeping the shop floor (or mopping an office), delivering letters in an office or around town, writing letters to advertise events, etc. Some also aren't really mini games but requirements of normal tasks like being required to catch all the bugs in a building, tending to plants on a farm, or fishing for a certain amount of a certain type of fish. Some of these jobs also grant you access to the merchant only areas, and making friends with NPCs also sometimes gives you discounts.

*Now, I mentioned newspaper because there is media now. Players get news papers at the beginning of each morning which is filled with random silly articles and gossip about the town and future events. Some random pieces on things collected from events, article's from Friend's Towns, or made-up news pieces on the world retrieved via Nintendo Online. Then there are also television stations and TV programs. It would be similar to a cross in what is seen in Animal Crossing and Pokemon. There is a TV schedule for each station (right now I'm thinking 5 stations, upgrading to 10 with a satellite or something.) with shows that air based on certain times. There doesn't need to be many programs, but the programs themselves would be incredibly simple animations of things like the News or Parodies of real programs. New shows can be downloaded by Wifi. (Satellite programs being Wifi only, maybe even adding an Animal Crossing Tube like thing where players send in videos made in-game (maybe with a new camera item) over wifi that Nintendo selects to play during the month.) All TV programs are broadcasts in Animalese. The last form of media is the Radio, which is a simplified form of the other where TV programs are shown only in audio or allowing you to play music you don't own.

*Full Wiimote controls with the tools and items all work. (that are suppose to work that is) So rocking chairs rock, you can slide down slides, etc. Items are also more stackable (when needs to be) Closet space is also no longer shared, but back the way it was before, however now there is a size system in items that controls the amount that you are allowed to store. You also still can have multiple rooms on multiple floors, and the basement.

Bug catching is through flicking the Wii Remote in the way you want to swing the net. You also can now peek into things such as bushes and trees to find objects or insects and catch them in there. You also have to peek inside of trees/bushes to collect things such as nuts and berries. (I believed there was a similar peeking method to let you peek in your closet to see what the objects may look a bit like) normal fishing is similar to before, but now with the Wii mote. You fling the remote forwards to cast your line, and you pull back when the fish bites on the hook. For the Axe, like the peek function it zooms in on the tree and you have to swing across. It is more of a timing game this time around as there is a little meter that shows the power of your swing. singing in the same spot speeds up the cutting job and you can collect the lumber to sell or to create pieces of your own furniture/statues. (This was similar to the tech demo... I can't remember if it was Wii or DS, with the spinning board) If you are good at the game you could cut a tree down in two swipes, if bad, it can take 5 or more. The better you do gives you more wood in the end as well. (The golden ax lets you cut a tree down in one swipe, however) I do want the watering can and the sling shot to return, maybe letting you aim the sling in a manner similar to arrows in Zelda.

*You are allowed to have two players offline where the screen splits when you are far away, but stays together as one when close. Though activity is more limited. (In a cave or such, both players need to be in the cave, and you aren't allowed to go to work in this mode)

*Cooking and other crafts as a mini game.
Cooking also brings out to mini-games, you buy and collect recipes to get new food items and generally cook to entertain others. NPCs, for example, have favorite foods and dishes, so you can cook for them and increase the friendship you have between you and them. Your character itself doesn't actually need to eat, but your character stops with the drowsy/dizzy animations when they aren't hungry. They also use tools the most efficiently.

*and finally, Full Camera control. You can adjust it to view like the originals, or bring it in close and behind to fallow, or over the shoulder to stop and look around you. (like zelda with a third view)

That's the main stuff I want, if I find my original document, I'll edit and link to it here. Actually, I'm going to look for the link and post it as I go into much more details on the mini games and types of stores that are offered, as with everything else.

I also forgot to say that I whole hardly welcome the return of real holidays. The fake ones I want to keep as well, but I say why not keep the holidays? Who cares how PC it is. I say we add more holidays from other cultures as well to expand others knowledge on people's cultures and traditions.

That's the best to my memory. I think I originally had the controls pretty much down as well to use only the Wii mote. (but I guess the nunchuck would be needed to reel in the deep sea fishing... unless I planned on making the reel electronic, i.e. button to pull in reel) I still think mainly only using the remote is very important to keep it casual friendly.

---------------------
Update: I really wish I could find it, but I can't so I'll elaborate on the parts I forgot. But bare with me, my memory isn't too great... (it was actually probably one or two years ago, not three, around sometime before Wild World came out so a lot of things ended up being in wild world...)Any new stuff I'll note as well

Also, I forgot to comment on other posts... (though true be told, I didn't read them at the beginning because I didn't want to take anyone else's ideas but, yeah of course Zeta's ideas are great.) A lot of things ended up being similar anyways, so great minds think a like, I guess. :p (I like the convenience of the DS connectivity, and I especially liked the idea for an album and the new things to collect.

And right when I'm thinking of getting back into AC too. X) I can't wait for this!

I love Bell02's ideas. Especially Villagers having families now instead of always living alone, jobs for all the characters, job mini games, and cooking as a chore. Hopefully they'll really expand upon the premise for the Wii instead of just taking Animal Crossing DS and adding minigames.

Let's hope it's that vastly improved sequel that's been rumored for months.

Animal Crossing DS, seemed more like a remake of the GCN version with more or less content, and with Nintendo Wifi Connection.

Well, it was officially announced today, and so far the features are:

* Animal City - travel away from the town and visit a city.
* Voice Chat
* Online item auctions with other players.

I hope they've really improved the social aspect of the game. I want more than 6 personalities. And I want families of animals, now.

Whoa. The new City Folk game rocks! It's so wicked sick! I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I can't wait til November!

Oh man, online item auctions would be cool. I've been wanting to have a business with my characters on AC for a long time.

These are the times to pull out the old Animal Crossing games! Anyone else got the GameCube one? :p

I'm glad that they didn't ditch the village in favor of a city, but I'm afraid there still might not be much to this game than sidequests. The main criticism of it always being poor incentive to keep playing because the game was nothing but loot farming and fetch quests. So I'm happy that they took a big step, but it might not be enough for me. Job minigames, more exploration areas than a city, a garden, and a virtual pet might - but I'm not holding my breath considering the dearth of innovation in the franchise thus far.

Returning to the series are real-world holidays such as Bunny Day (Easter) and Halloween, which were absent from Wild World.

Thank goodness.

- Halloween is returning from the original Gamecube release, as is the Jingle character for the winter holiday season. Also is Easter, and a new Carnival with minigames.
- WiiConnect 24 will feed players new items and surprises.
- New to 'City Folk is a city theater that puts on comedy skits.
- You can visit your friend's city without them needing to be there.
- The Able Sisters will now allow you to decorate the front, back, and sleeves of your shirts.
- 'City Folk interacts with the Photo Channel so that you can send pictures to your friends or save them to a SD card.
- If you have a friend that leaves the town, the connection will disappear for everyone...just like Wild World
- Animal Crossing: Wild World fans can transport their character to City Folk, and gamers can also transport their collections. All this requires is a visit to Tom Nook in the Wii version. (!!!YES!!!)
- Players without WiFi can take their City Folk character data with them on their Nintendo DS to visit a friend's town.
- Brand new (i.e. not hidden on the disc) downloadable content is being developed for the game. Players will be able to download new Wallpaper, clothing, and furniture from Wifi.
- Bummer, classic Nintendo games will not be returning.
- City Folk will not interact with the Wii Forecast Channel, as has been speculated.
- Gamers within the southern hemisphere will see their seasons inverted from gamers in the northern hemisphere.

This game really looks amazing. I am very pleased with the DS to Wii connectivity.

The DLC sounds very interesting, I wonder if this will go beyond just new clothes, and house items. I'd love to see new downloadable K.K. Slider songs.

Will it be through the Wii Shop Channel, or some other method?

* Voice Chat

I hate voice chat. Hope you can disable it like on DP.

I'm sure it can be disabled, since the game also supports USB keyboards.

No word on it. I suspect it might be a mix, with some updates being free and others being pay.

YEA!!!!

I got a full set of Acorn Furniture in Wild World. Good to see it won't fade away after City Life is out.

Although, I hope I can still keep the DS character on my DS after this process.

I actually would like a village full of cats...

- Bummer, classic Nintendo games will not be returning.

I suppose that would defeat the purpose of the Virtual Console.
