I love them ! I didnt knew so much people liked anime and video games.
They are so much fun ! you can talk with peopl about geeky themes, and they understand you ! and LOTS of persons where playing pokemon, and gave me a shiny deoxys, a jirachi, and a celebi (Legal ! YAY!) for Spiritombs, and I didnt felt like a weirdo with my cosplay (pkm trainer from brawl) because there where random guys Crossplaying wikipe-tan and naruto characters, Any way, anyone here has an history about an Anime Conventions ?

Oh yes, I cosplay each year they're held around here. This year, I went as May from the anime. |D I'm probably going as Green/Blue from the manga next year. She's so cute!

They're so fun. :D

Every Year ? that must be long time, in my city, conevntions are held every 15 days, but of course, I dont go to EVERY single convention, hmmm, I dont know how do you resist so much time.

I've been to comic conventions. Not big ones where everyone cosplays and there's some famous person or something but small ones where comic collectors set up booths and sell comics. My dad had a booth twice and brought me to help. It was fun. I miss those conventions.

I went to the New York Comic Con and I got to meet the new voice actors there. (Though, I would much rather meet the original V.A.s.) I also got to see the first 7 minutes of the movie 9 dub before anyone else did.

never been to one. Hope to go to one soon though...

just don't know of any being held soon.

Kirk Thorton? The dude who does Don Patch?

Cool!

(I've never gone, very nervous around crowds, but if I did I'd probably wanna go as Paul now. :)

Yeah, he even did the Don Patch voice when he was demonstrating what sorts of things should be on a demo tape. He said a few lines as Patch to show how brief each voice sample should be.

He also said his favorite line he's ever had to say was "Churrrrrros!"

I was at Otakon this year. If anyone here went, I was the dude walking around with the Chatot in his shirt pocket. :D

Cosplay just isn't me, so I don't even try it.

I'm going to next year's Otakon as well, barring something catastrophic or whatever happens.

For serious?! I think I may have just missed you or caught a glimpse of you.

The closest I get to that are kitty ears and a tail...
Which was kind of a recent thing.

I may or may not get my chance to see you, but I have my reasons.
Well, into my speil then.

Otakon, quite possibly the largest anime convention on the east coast, has had to be one of the more memorable cons I've been too. I've also attended Katsucon and Anime USA which have both been in Northern Virginia [Katsu has just recently moved to DC].

Tally as far as I know:
Otakon 6
Katsucon 4
AnimeUSA 2

As fun as they have been I'm afraid they're beginning to have run their course with me; I'm just not as interested anymore. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to do and the people you meet at these conventions tend to be highly patient, and extremely friendly. Really they don't bite [well maybe a few ... that depends on who they cosplay as]. Gotta love the people, seriously if not for any of the other events, the number one reason to go is the people. I'm sure you're guaranteed a friend standing in line, bumping into them cause its crowded and you say 'whoops I guess I bumped into you that means we have to start the inevitable conversation that will ultimately make us lifelong friends,' or someone ends up dragging you hands and knees somewhere and a random stranger helps 'save' you from the incessant pulling (for who knows why) and somehow you become friends from such a bizzare incident. [I'd say the last two are a lot less likely... hasn't happened to me but I wouldn't doubt instances like that occuring at a con.] But yes for you math majors out there, con people = good times.

The workshops are fun, I mean there's literally something for everyone like VA panels, Game fandom panels to tea cafes and current trends. The list is endless -but I must admit I haven't really done much in workshops to be honest.

Dealers room. Yes the dealers room. It's what it's name suggests, you buy crap there. Loooads of it. Hang out, do things on the floor. Yeah, it's all good. Sometimes the dealers may lower the price if you say the secret password... [not really, I'm just having too much fun explaining things now >:D] Bargaining deals isn't out of the question, everyone knows stuff on the floor isn't cheap.

Gamers.room.is.awesome.
If you want competition, you've got it. You can expect to duke it out with some of the pros in whatever game it is you play be it Halo, DDR, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and even Pokemon Battle Revolution to my surprise [at this past Otakon]. That's just more mainstreamed stuff, the list only goes on.

Artist alley is the place where I've chill-axed for a while when absolutely exhausted. It's usually much bigger than it needs to be, and that's good cause everyone loves checking the place out, but they never stay there very long. I love indie kinda work and it's cool to see what the locales are up to. Every now and then you get some real remarkable pieces. I make sure not to miss it... well at least to the past few cons I've been too.

Cosplay.. Characters do character things without looking like complete fools. Really, best part of Saturday night is getting to watch this community talent show that somehow relates to the costume/anime that a person or group has donned. It's hit or miss, but you get some of the best scenes ever enacted or you get things to happen that would never otherwise happen within an anime fleshed out for all to enjoy. Really, this is one of those must see venues that will totally make the experience worth every penny you paid.

Oh... yeah and their might be anime. It's kinda just hanging out there.. .there's no rush to see it. You'll get there. meh.

Year after year I cover just a little bit more I missed the year before. At this point I really think I've done it all, or at least I've covered everything I wanted to do. I said to myself that this Otakon would probably be my last. . I don't know if I reallllly want to keep my word on that, but chances of me showing up next year aren't going to be any greater than my chances of showing up this year. [I was already on the edge of whether or not I wanted to go. I just happened to be in the Baltimore for the summer so it was a more convenient approach than most summers from where I normally live.]

A big reason for going has been my friends, but they're in the same boat as I am.. kinda on the edge about anime in general so if they don't go, I don't have much reason left to go [I mean we've done it together a gajillion times before its not that we just decided we all hate anime completely, the interest has just faded.] I... dunno. I'll see how I feel. I think I might do AnimeUSA since it's moved closer [Alexandria] and is extremely convenient for me. I know a couple of people that may be going as well.. I'll see.

I miss anime conventions....

So far I've only been to:

Tekkoshocon 06

Tsubasacon 04 and 05

I was *supposed* to go to Tekkoshocon in April this year, but at the end of March I got terminated from college - so I was stuck in my crappy hometown. I couldn't make it to Tekko, even though months ahead of time, I had planned to go to the con with my friends. ;_;

And also, due to not having any friends in my hometown, and not having transportation (I don't have a license yet and don't have a car either - my parents have a car, but they don't travel much), I feel like I would never be able to go to an anime con again, even though I'd love to do that more than anything. *sighs*

I've been to several anime conventions in Sydney and met a couple of voice actors, most notably Sean Schemmel (Goku) and Vic Mignogna (Edward Elric), gotten stuff signed and made some good savings on funky anime related purchases. The biggest convention of the year is in October, and the voices of Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost In The Shell) and Temari and Sasuke from Naruto will be there. It's a big event and I've already got my ticket xD
Though I never cosplay...T.T
