Bulbapedia says:
Anime-style battling, or ASB, is a game run on a number of major Pokémon forums, including Bulbagarden forums, which involves 2 or more players, called Trainers, having a roleplay battle in the vein of the anime, under the supervision of a gamemaster-type figure, the referee.

While the rest of the article is slightly...jargon-y, I got the gist that it has a lot of rules, and it's been happening for a very long time. So I'm wondering:

Where can I get more information about this? (It seems intresting.)
And why does it never happen (here, at least) anymore?

Talk to me.

Not enough people interested in it at BMG it seems, but it's doing okay at SPP.

I'm interested, myself... had a couple battles and all that. (Heck, I think the last post on the ASB board was a challenge I made...)

But not so much I'd take the plunge into SPP!

So is it, like, some kind of full-fledged RP? Or can you just make teams and banter back and forth over an imaginary battle with prose? Keep in mind, I still have no idea how it works.

It's somewhere in-between those two. Somewhat difficult to explain. You might get an idea looking at the stuff here.

If there was enough interest on BMGf for it, I'd open it up here again, and finish off the re-write of the rules that I've been doing on and off for a long long time now, but we'd really need a good number of people who'd dedicate themselves to reffing if we wanted to get anything going.
