This scan:

was posted on PM's imageboard. It's clearly an anime design for Wallace, but as we all know very well, Lance and Adan (I've taken a liking to that over Juan) replaced him in all his roles.

So, does anyone know what the true story behind this scan and the lost anime Wallace really is?

I think it was on Dogasu's site I read that Wallace was slated to be in the anime (and mentioned images of such a thing) and then Emerald dropped in, and he was dropped for Juan. *shrug*

=D But it's finally nice to see it. *has been wanting to for a long time*

I think it's pretty obvious what happened. Although we did have Kyou's gym being taken over by Anzu in GSC, that was an event that originally occured in GS, not something suddenly introducted in Crystal. Because of this, the anime guys figured the leaders would be the same. To release a scan of future leaders probably didn't seem like a big deal...then the change occured, and well...now you're supposed to forget this scan even existed. :p

Looks like Pokesho art to me actually... :/ It's even the same pixelated style you see on most of the things on there.

I thought we'd figured it out....until you said that. If that's PokeSho's stuff, this one tops even the Orre anime and May/Drew anime "promos" they made. I swear this thing looks totally legit.

Of course, if someone who speaks Japanese could just ask PokeSho about it, that'd be ideal...

EDIT: Also, I don't think PokeSho would totally change his hair color like that. However, it's not something I'd put past the animators.

Believe it or not, I found it on Pokesho, but on Pokesho's image board where they only post official stuff.
And besides, I, a Pokesho expert and imitator (not to gloat or anything) can tell it's not Pokesho.

Luna of the North Wind mentioned Dogasu said something about this on his site. This is what he said:

Dogasu said:
Apparently, though, Mikuri was going to be in the anime. There's a scan floating around of a page featuring the later Houen Gym Leaders, and Mikuri is included as the Rune City Gym Leader. He's even drawn in the anime's style and everything. Then Emerald came along, and, as we can see, the anime producers decided to change their plans. It's disappointing since I'm sure the anime producers were planning to do something big with Mikuri and the Cave of Origin (since it's mentioned in "A Three Team Scheme"), something that may have resulted in a good set of episodes involving Groudon and Kyogre. But instead, they gave up on all of that to advertise Pocket Monsters Emerald. Disgusting.

I'm guessing that scan is what he was referring to.

I'm pretty sure it's legit.

But whatever. I'm actually somewhat happier that he didn't appear in the anime, if he was going to look like that =p

I'm pretty sure that's from a board game I've got...

To me, it brings to mind the infamous "Pokémon: Master Trainer" board game, where the Pokémon were on little discs and you had to roll certain numbers to win battles...

I have that game too. Only offical artwork for the Elite Four iirc.
