Retro-Gaming Fanart Challenge 2005!

Create an Image based on any Video Game released that came out between 1970-1989
*
Challenge: Preserve the Retro Look while giving it a Modern Twist! Anime Styling not required.

The submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

* Composition - Appropriate use of arranging elements within the picture space to communicate the theme and feelings effectively to the viewer. Basically this is the overall effect and impression given by the piece.
* Use of Values - How well contrast and gradation of color are used to define form, separation, mass & contour.
* Originality / Creativity - fresh idea, interesting use of medium, artistic style, something that makes your work "stand out"!
* Retrosity - How well is the Retro theme conveyed.

NOTE: These Criteria may be assigned different weights during the judging process.

Categories: * Best Image (Grand Prize)

Prizes: TBA (gaming and/or art-related)

Contest Rules & Regulations:

* New artwork only, created after May 20th, 2005
* Submissions must be received electronically via the provided entry form by June 16th, 2005 midnight, PST
* Winners will be judged & announced by June 20th, 2005.
* The artwork must not appear publicly until after the contest winners are announced
* All submissions will be displayed after the winners are announced.
* An unlimited/irrevocable license is given to AnimeX.Com to use the artwork on its main and affiliated websites.
* One submission per category per artist, one prize package per artist maximum.
* Submissions must be in .jpg format and must be between 600-3000 pixels wide x 300-3000 pixels tall and submitted via the contest website form.
* No nudity, obscenity, or depictions of illegal acts as dictated by Canadian and US Law.
* Poses cannot be copied from existing commercial work or include any commercial artwork or media
* Amateur artists only. Anyone who has ever been employed/contracted by a commercial company in any artist related field such as: penciling, inking, coloring, toning, illustration, lettering, design is prohibited from entering the contest. AnimeX.Com staff-members and their families are prohibited from entering the contest.
* Judging will be conducted via criteria-vote system and all pieces will be judged anonymously.
* Prizes will be shipped to continental USA/Canada only. Winners from outside this area can arrange for payment of shipping expenses beyond continental allowance or request prizes to be shipped to any address in the continental USA/Canada.
