Another Avatar Problem

I'm trying to upload an avatar and it won't appear. I've tried it as both a computer and url upload as well as attempting to upload other avatars. None of them go past the limit yet only one showed up.

Does this have to do with the problem some people are having with not being able to see certain avatars? Or is this a problem all to itself?
 
It happens with me when I upload a .png. When I convert the image to a jpeg and upload it, it appears just fine.
 
I thought that may be the problem until one of the pngs went through. So I know it's not because of that.

And I'd prefer not the mess up the quality any worse than it already is. ^_^;
