Purpose
Well, like the title says, this is the Anti-Cloning Club. Now most of you are probably asking "Why should I care if I get clones?" Well, let's say you got a shiny Kyogre that was fairly hard to obtain, and you want a Mew, and someone has a legit one. Of course this is fine and all, but if the Mew trader has clones, he will have the shiny Kyogre, and still has a Mew in his possession. This completely destroys the original purpose of trading, and allows the cloner to benefit more from the trade than the Kyogre trader. Of course, the Mew trader can go on and rip every shiny obtainer he can find. This also creates an imbalance of worth of the Pokemon.

So, the club's purpose is to provide an environment for those who wish to not take the chance for being ripped off by cloners. Diamond and Pearl near their international release, so those who wish to be clone-free when D/P reach their native shores can join.

Even if one has cloned before, or does not fully despise cloning, they can still join as long as they refrain from using cloning for trading and battling.

How to join
Joining is simple and easy. Just put a link and banner, until a banner is made just a link.

Banners
None, so far. They don't have to link here, so help this club out!

Pika25, he meant put a link to this topic in your signature.

What is your opinion of cloning to duplicate items? What if the cloned Pokémon are subsequently released?

I'll join ^_^

However, I think cloning to back-up the Pokemon is okay (in case your data gets deleted), as long as you don't use the clones unless the originals get deleted. Does this sound fair?

Wait... is it okay if I just put a text link in my sig? I don't have room more a banner...

While in most instances, I am not big on clubs, I wish to actually join this one. I cannot stand cloned items and especially cloned Pokemon, especially to the point where:

1. I actually went searching for a Japanese Colosseum bonus disc just to have a legit Celebi.

2. Do not use the GTS on Diamond/Pearl for fear of hacked/cloned Pokemon.

Since, I'm on the Serebii branch I might as well be on this one too. I typed something up on why I don't like clones, but you'll have to give me a little while to find it.

Here you go

I think it's cheating, how could you not think it's cheating? I mean come on you work so hard to get your Pokemon a certain way and then boom your Pokemon has been treated like it was only used for an experiment.

For example say I have my shiny Grumpig(Deepti) and I clone her, well she would be used to get another shiny, but she would also be used like a piece of trash. She wouldn't be as special. And, it would be disrespecting what the Pokemon's abilities truly are. And, it is also endandering the Pokemon.(I heard if you mess something up your game could get erased.)

(I'm about to get into some deep stuff here.) Pretend that they were real, the clone wouldn't have a soul, because it well is a clone. It would just be an empty shell. And, tell me would the Pokemon really want you to clone it? Yeah, I know I'm probably going to get flamed and yelled at,and I'm probably going to get "Chill it's just a game" but I wanted to express what I think. If you really respect your Pokemon don't cheat. IMO I don't cheat, because I respect them. I don't know if I can expain my self any better, but I think cheating is wrong. Please, understand what I'm trying to say.
Look what happened with the clones in the Mewtwo movie.

edit. Here is the definition of cheating from Wikipedia
Cheating is defined as an act of deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others. Cheating implies the breaking of rules. The term "cheating" is less applicable to the breaking of laws, as illegal activities are referred to by specific legal terminology such as fraud or corruption. Cheating is a primordial economic act: getting more for less, often used when referring to marital infidelity

Clones are imposters of the actual Pokemon.

I couldn't of said it better my self. *Pats on back*
I care about how rare shinys are. And, about the shinys what about the people who earned their shinys? It isn't right to them. Shinys are determined my one's luck and determination. That is why they are there to determine how much luck and determination you have. Shinys are there for people who deserve them, not to be taking advantage of.That is why some people lost their Pokemon, because took advantage of them being there, and now those Pokemon are no more. Key of advise next time think twice, before you could loose another Pokemon.

wow, ash's pika pal! you took the words right outta my mouth, i care for my pokemon a great deal and try my utmost not to mistreat them. im all for trying to prevent rulebreaking and advocating fairness!!

I would like to join and cloning is not fair to those who would trade shinies for hard to find secret rare Pokemon. I would be mad as heck if that happened to me.

Just found this after realizing I might have purchased some event Pokemon off of Ebay, and then being told that Pokemon can be cloned for free.

Yeah, I just bought six Pokemon from a Dutch auction that still has three chances left for you to trade for any six event Pokemon of your choice. Another seller (whom I did not buy from, but did question) admits that all his shinies are cloned, but not any of his event Pokemon. Yet another seller claims that he or she downloaded Manaphy eggs from a number of stockpiled Pokemon Ranger copies, rather than cloning them.

Right now, I'm now wondering how I can tell cloned Pokemon apart from their original copies, if there even is any way to tell. I prefer to earn my Pokemon, rather than just collect them all, and I only hacked some one time more than a year ago with a GameShark (something which I already regret doing). I once played Red, which has a glitch that allows you to create 99 of any item of your choice, and I passed it up because that would be cheating. At some point, I actually plan on trading Pokemon every now and then based on what's up in the Trade Center, but I'm gonna limit the number of trades I participate in by tossing a coin each time I pass a PokeCenter.

Y'know, I'd compare this whole thing to the situation of video games and other forms of entertainment. You can watch or listen to just about anything on YouTube without having to pay for it. With video games, even if you wanted to actually play a given game, there's also the option of downloading ROMs and emulators, unless either there are no good ones for what you want or you just enjoy the novelty of owning stuff outright.

Well anyway, I just asked the person I bought some Pokemon from whether or not they're cloned. I hope they weren't.

I hate cloning... it´s better have an incomplete pokedex than cheat... and I think they effort too much searching for ways to cheat and collect all pokemon, even if they are not real and it feels weird to buy rare pokemon rather than catch them yourself or trading them with a friend...

Also I hate people than make avantage by selling clones..

Count me in, Gamesharks are for the weak and stupid, just like Communism.

Unless you're hacking for an event items, since those are cheep.

And for Mystery Dungeon, since that game is just for the lulz.

But anyway, hacks are bad kids.
