Hello all!

Im sorry if this is in the wrong section guys!

Im at a bit of a crossroads in my life, i cant decide what sort of career i want to work in, but i think i could be happy in journalism.

Im a 19 year old lad, with decent literary skills, an developed writing style, and im passionate too. The problem is, i have no noteworthy qualifications or connections.

So my plea is for help/information on how to get into this field/good places to apply etc.

Everyone heres always been so nice to me, so i thought i'd ask around.

Thanks in advance.

Does your local newspaper have a community editorial board? Perhaps the paper or the TV news people have intern jobs available. Start a blog and use your posts as a portfolio for your work.

Yeah, you'll probably have to intern... but I thought those type of carriers are better to get into with a degree.

Apparently, punctuation (have you ever heard of an apostrophe?) and capitalization weren't skills you were taught.

And apparently polliteness wasnt one you were taught.

Jibes aside, i type these posts while at work, and usually doing other things. Unless im typing prose thats going to be published or reviewed as an actual piece of literature, then i dont try and perfect my punctiation. As long as my message is legible and inteligible, thats all that matters.

Thanks for the constructive comment though :)

But thanks guys, i was debating trying to hunt for an internship, its just i need a regular, semi-decent income atm as well, as im paying rent/bills etc.

If anybody else has any ideas/input/experience i would greatly appreciate if you share them.

Thanks.
