Any Oldschool Journey RP's?

I've been patiently waiting (as I really don't want to GM another roleplay at the moment) for someone to post a good-old-fashioned, Gen 1 or maybe 2, Journey RP. You know, before any of those newfangled pokes were discovered.

Gen 1 and 2... those were the good old days... :dizzy:

Wondering if anyone would be willing to take up that challenge...?

I was actually planning to make one set in Johto. The idea had started forming in my mind about a week ago. I haven't really gotten to it yet, however. XP

Trying to decide if I should just bunker down and do it...

If I do, I'll be making the Sign-Up process very particular - I'd be looking for experienced roleplayers with mature voices, so I can relax and enjoy the roleplay without feeling like I'm babysitting. Preferably, the members could help me run the RP as well.

Frankly, I can't take on another high-maintenance project right now, it would probably kill me, so this would probably be a small RP if I'm the one running it. There would be the potential for sequels, however.

Most RPs simply die before they end, even journey ones. Further, they are usually large enough to justify multiple threads. Anyway, I'll set an old-school one up pretty soon. How do you feel about a chainmail-clad Oak distributing Pokeballs to a hippie Ash Ketchum?

Alright, so I'm working on the basic concept as we speak. The working title at the moment is "Kohto" and it will take place across both Regions; though only Gen 1 Pokés will be available in the Kanto installment.

Any thoughts thus far?

Trying to decide if it should be one RP or two. Regardless, when the trainers travel to Johto, they'll bring their old Pokés with them, but will only use Pokémon they catch in Johto to challenge the Gym Leaders. This prevents the early Johto Gyms from being too easy (with your Giovanni-stomping Blastoise) as well as prevents any newcomers in the Johto installment from being overshadowed.

Contrary to my usual projects, I'm planning on this RP being a very small one, maybe five or so members. Bigger than a Private RP, but smaller than most regular RPs.

I *might* have something up by the end of the night. In the meantime, if you're bored, you could start working on a character profile, I suppose. :XD:

Characters will be between the ages of 10 and 21 (if older than fifteen or so, it should be explained why they're just now setting out), all will be beginning trainers, and all will choose from the three Kanto Starters. The RP will begin on the day that the trainers select their starters, but you can go ahead and list your starter on your trainer profile ahead of time.

This reminds me of an RP, or actually two RPs, I made a while back called Shining Diamonds and Forever Pearls. There were two seperate threads for each and as members signed up, I would assign them an RP to roleplay in. The only major difference of the two was that each followed the journey of a different group of trainers through Sinnoh.

True, but I won't be conducting the Sign-Ups on a first-come, first-serve basis. I'll be selecting the best Sign-Ups from the most active and mature members. I believe that is probably the most essential part of ensuring this RP doesn't die by the time we reach Misty's Gym.

As a writer. Which is why providing RP Samples will be essential. Broad vocabularies, proper grammar and spelling, etc. are the things I'll be looking at. That and being an active BMGf user, I don't want people disappearing halfway through the RP.
