Just wondering if it's been announced that these new titles will use the GBA game like Diamond, Pearl and Platinum?

Thanks

Very little information has been released on this but I would assume they also include a PAL park, about 80% sure.

Its too early for them not to have a pal park, not everyone is going to have DSi by the time the games are released and the DSi has not yet totally 100% replaced the DS Lite, so I think they might use GBA games.

It's far too early to even guess at the inclusion of a Pal Park-esque system.

No, it's not. It is a reasonable prediction even if it isn't absolutely guaranteed to happen (nothing is).

We don't know anything about HGSS that pertains to other games...besides NEP needing to be transferred from DPPt. It's too early to guess.

We're speculating and making sensible predictions - not guessing away and throwing out random possibilities. We wouldn't have anything to discuss if we restricted ourselves to confirmed information.

I'm guessing that since the DSi is the new system and it does not have the GBA slot, they programmed it for the DSi, thus leading to the fact that there will be no Pal Park. That's my two cents.

If they don't have Pal Park, you can still migrate Pokemon to Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, and trade to HeartGold and/or SoulSilver.

Now I say this every single time...

...why is it that people can't seem to comprehend the ability for them to compromise between having the GBA-slot features of the DS/Lite while still giving the game DSi exclusive content? Its not like they're making HGSS a DSi exclusive game.

Think of it like this. Nintendo announces that the games will have special DSi-exclusive features. So what happens? Everyone goes out to trade in their old DS/DS Lite for a brand new DSi so they can get the full enjoyment out of HG/SS. Then they go to play the games and suddenly they can access all the promoted new features, but they can't access Pal Park/Time Capsule and dual-slot mode pokemon. It just doesn't make sense to make people get the new system to use certain features in the game, but still have features that require the old system.

And those games didn't use the IR port on the GBC for anything.

I don't know if they'd retain GBA compatibility or not. It seems they're trying to let people complete the Pokedex without having to buy older games, but at the same time, there's no real reason to remove Pal Park or not have something similar.

You do have a point with this however I doubt the exclusive features with be earth-shattering. If your smart, you'll stick with the system you have so long as the game runs on it.

Exactly, and after selling as much of the game as possible, Nintendo's main objective is to promote the DSi as much as possible. They know that people would rather stick with what they've got, and that's why they'll put in something crappy that's DSi exclusive. But on top of that, they're probably gonna what to limit the amount of stuff that further encourages people to stick with their old systems, these smart people are smart enough without being given reasons other than "I don't need a new one that badly"

So, there is good reason for them to not include Pal Park.

Pal Park (or the same system under a different in-world guise) stands a decent chance of returning, but no new GBA features seem likely to come in, and the GBA-insert method of finding certain Pokémon is probably getting dropped.

The reason I think Pal Park might be staying is that going through two games to get a Pokémon from a Gen. III to HGSS is a bit of a hassle, and it really wouldn't hurt anything story-wise to just have it there - they wouldn't even have to build a new area for it, since it would fit perfectly as an extra function for an improved/expanded National Park. Nintendo's probably perfectly happy making money off the DSi relatively slowly, especially with the big game releases coming over the next year, and if they're clever, the DSi-exclusive functions they come up with for HGSS (and other games - remember that there's more than just Pokémon to think about) will sell more than enough for them.

Although this started me thinking about something else - will Nintendo keep the current method of generating Friend Codes based on both the game card and the DS? I always found it to be a dumb choice in the first place, and to keep enforcing that in new games while trying to plug a new system seems counterproductive, especially with HGSS.

I hope they don't migrate to DSi exclusive features because im not one to upgrade. I'm still using my 2004 launch DS, never upgraded to DS Lite and have no plans to upgrade to DSi either.

they programmed it for the DSi

Here we go again...

Every report for this game, the magazine, and the site indicate it for the Nintendo DS, NOT the DSi.

Unless Nintendo changes their mind down the road, it's a DS game.

And honestly, what POSSIBLE features could be made to justify DSi exclusivity? A stupid camera app that serves no gameplay purpose?

They might include exclusive features, I remember the gameboy printer and camera stations in the old generation 2 games.

But they were completely useless and served no purpose other than pointless novelty, 90% of people who played the games never even messed with them.
