I think the writers are not done with Contests yet, especially since theyve been a big hit lol. So does anybody else think they will come back better than ever?

I personally give it a 50-50 chance. If so, I really Jessee will be in them. lus, maybe the 5th gen games will have something in them that the new girl, Flying-hair Iris, will want to be in. I believe that a popular choice would be the Pokeathlon.

Well, the guy standing next to Iris in the preview had a bow-tie. Maybe he's the third wheel AND the coordinator of the group. If that's true, than contests would be less focused on. But would still be in the anime nevertheless.

It could go either way at this point I guess. But I just hope they'll return. Sinnoh's contests were some of my favorite episodes/battles.

Depends on what the side-quest in the new games will be. I'm a little tired of contests, personally.

I sure don't agree that they should come back.

Contests were a boring mini-game in the actual games and they were boring in the anime as well. I'd have preferred if we got a HGSS OVA with Jimmy and co. from the Raikou special and he focused on Pokethlon instead.

I doubt that Contests will appear in the BW games, however, considering that they've been hugely successful in the anime, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that the anime will still retain contests despite the newest games not having them themselves.

It also isn't difficult to imagine that they had to invent a brand new character just for this because the BW heroine certainly doesn't look "contest-y" enough. She looks like a straight-up trainer opposed to a coordinator.

Seeing how it's suggested (don't remember from where) that BW will sorta a revitalization of the series, my money is on contests not returning. Heck, at first I even thought gyms/badges won't even be in BW. Don't know if it's confirm they are now..

But my bet is there will be a new coordinating quest. So we might get another new coordinator on the quest. Iris' outfit according to the scan looks to me she might be a coordinator. The silhouette of the unknown person on the right in the BW preview looks like he/she's wearing a formal outfit --> again hinting a coordinator.

Probably not but it might since the Pokeathlon did not play a major part in the anime.

I just don't know, I mean the way the camera's did a close up on Jessie's outfit. Just seemed like it was saying contests was done, maybe I'm looking too much into that.

A lot of people spceulate that it was a way to get rid of the Jesselina persona without them finding out so there will be a new persona in Isshu. But without knowing if their in the games or not we can't really know if they'll be in the anime.

I want them to return, I prefer gyms but I like contests too. Gyms are all about beating the shit out of eachother. Contests are about beating the shit out of eachother but making it look pretty

If they go back to being like they were in AG, I'd love for them to be back. If they're like they were in DP, I'd prefer they just be gone. They really don't need to be back.

Probably but I don't want to see them dressing up again...smexyness was lost around Hearthome City anyways

They were different? I'm not being sarcastic btw, I'm seriously asking. I know in the games Hoenn Pokemon Contests were different from the Sinnoh Super Contests but in the anime they looked to be about the same other than the whole clothing thing.

One thing different was in AG there was a lot more variety it seemed...

The Contest Pokemon were guys like Medicham, Lairon, Grumpig, Cacturne, Dusclops, etc. Badass motherfuckers.

But in Sinnoh, it sort of changed. It seemed they exclusively tended to focus on cute Pokemon, and even in one episode they seemed shocked that Kenny used a Machoke. Likewise, we barely got any one-shots and instead got a lot of the same Pokemon seen multiple times. That's one thing I found to be disappointing.

Besides that though, no difference...Contests are basically just Battles in the Anime anyway with a "point system" that really doesn't matter. The anime tries to distinguish them, but I can't say I feel they're that different.

For one thing, AG's contests were more battle oriented. Sinnoh's was more distinct and focused more on DA SPARKLEZ, which is a good thing, IMO. AG's just felt like a battle tournament with horrible appeals, IMO, with a few exceptions. :/

Exactly. DP battles are just about being flashy. That was the primary concern. AG contest battles actually felt like battles, while only really leaving the appeals to being flashy.

And DP's battles didn't? I know we have different opinions but DP had it's fair share of epic battles too.

AG contests were a little too much like battling. DP made a distinction between the two. One of the reasons I vastly prefer DP's over AG's along with DP's deeper plots.

Plus, though DP had it's share of ice, It didn't go overboard with it like AG did.

DP had its share of decent battles, but they were more or less bogged down with sparkulz, which really annoy me. They were too focused on shit that didn't make any sense. Psybeam wings on a leafeon and crap like that. AG battles were real battles, where pokemon actually battled each other. Didn't just make rocks explode into fireworks.

DP did really simmer down with the ice, which was good. AG seemed like ice was the only thing they knew to be flashy, because they wouldn't make random firework explosions. I'll take a shitton of ice sculptures over sparkling rock explosions any day.
