I've been a fan since Dawn of Sorrow (confession time: back when DoS came out I wanted it because Soma was kinda cute in the art of him), and I have to say I love the gameplay and story in the games. I just got Order Of Ecclesia (it's EXCELLENT), I have Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow on my Visual Boy Advance, and I'm hoping to get Portrait of Ruin soon.

So, anyone else here like the Castlevania series?

I liked Aria of Sorrow the best out of the ones I have played.

Aria of Sorrow had better art of Soma. It made him look like some kind of albino gothic disturbed hero.

The classics or the Metroidvanias, I love them. I'm currently playing Order Of Ecclesia and loving it. Of all the Metroidvanias the only one I didn't like was Portrait of Ruin(I didn't play Harmony of Dissonance but I hear that one is bad as well).

I still like Symphony of the Night the best of all. I know many people say Aria and Dawn are better but I don't feel the same. Maybe it's just because none of the other games could replicate the original experience I had when first completing Symphony but I like it best regardless. Symphony has my favorite videogame soundtrack ever as well.

I've been a fan since the original Castlevania on the NES. Not a big fan of the 3D games, I rented Castlevania 64 back in 2000, and that game was lame. Glad I didn't buy it. I played Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live Arcade and it's easily the best of the Castlevania games.

I've only really played the DS "Metroidvania" games, but with the Wii Virtual Console, I really should go back and play some of the older ones.

Also..."Visual Boy Advance?"

GBA emulator.

I can't find the double pack in any stores. Until then I'm playing them on my emulator.

If you can buy online they have the double pack for sale on amazon but it's pretty expensive($40-60 range). You can buy it used as the cartridge only for like $15 but having no box sucks. =/

I really need to get the Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP. I played through a copied version of Dracula X with the Magic Engine and loved it so I want to see how the remake plays(Plus it has the original version and Symphony as unlockables).

I was a Metroid fan since I got my GBA and played Fusion (yes, I know). When I heard that Castlevania was similar, I decided to try that out, and borrowed a friend's copy of Portrait of Ruin (yes, I know). So I'm a big fan of the Metroidvania games, although I still haven't played CotM or SotN.

I've tried out the original Castlevania using an emulator, without much luck. Those fraggin' Medusa heads were even more annoying back then. I also got Judgment, and while it's certainly different, it's not really bad. It's actually closer to Smash Bros. than Soul Calibur; similar controls for different moves.

So far, my favorite would definitely be Ecclesia. The exploration wasn't as good as the others, but Shanoa and Albus are some of the deepest characters in the series. HoD would be a close second, if it weren't for the controls that don't mesh with later games, the odd music, or the stilted dialogue.

I hate Medusa heads. Hate them. Especially the ones that make you stone.

I got stuck in HoD.
