Anyone hope they do a short tournament with Ash's older Pokemon?

Due to Sinnoh's length, this is the longest gap the show has ever gone without Ash using any of his older Pokemon. Very likely for the league he'll also only use his Sinnoh team, as it seems likely what they'll do.

Does anyone wish they made a small tournament like the tag battle arc, where Ash uses his older Pokemon just for that one tournament? Ash now has over 20 Pokemon, most of which haven't done jack but sit at Oak's lab for hundreds of episodes.

What bothers me is that as the show progresses, Ash's older Pokemon get shown less and less with each passing saga. Sometimes it feels like there's no point for Ash to see them at Oak's lab again, if we're never going to get to see them do anything anymore.

Anyone else want to see a mini-tournament where Ash only uses his older Pokemon? Or do you think the writers figure Ash's old Pokemon aren't worth bothering with anymore?

We'll probably see them the next saga, just like happened in AG after Hoenn ended and BF started
And since this time the wait is much longer, I totally expect a few Sinnoh Poké to get Oak'd while Ash take a few Johto Poké (at least Totodile should get back on team) and during that saga he can also use any of his older Poké (but I'd expect them to still focus mainly on gens 2/4)

I did think about it though, it could be nice if they did three tournament of the three starter types - grass/fire/water and in each of them Ash would use all his Poké of that type... but I guess it won't happen
Maybe if we get the E4 challenge after the League and before next saga we'll see some of them... and I still think there's at least a little chance of Ash using at least a few of his olders in the League (just not in the final battle VS Paul, that should be the Sinnoh team only)

If your tournament with old Pokémon should have mean another idiotacal strechening of already overstretchened Sinnoh saga, then no thanks. It's better for this show and its ratings to end Sinnoh as soon as possible and quickly jump to next filler saga, so they will have enough time to showcase all of Ash's old Pokémon. Do such tournament in the middle of Sinnoh would be nice. Do it now, just to stretchen Sinnoh even more, instead of rush to next filler saga where they can showcase Ash's old Pokémon more properly, is simply stupid.

I'm not in a rush to end Sinnoh... anyway, I had this idea long ago, when Sinnoh was still around the time of the tag battle tournament eps
I also thought about an electric tag tournament with Ash/Dawn winning together... but yeah, it probably won't happen either (though that's not related to showcasing Ash's older Poké...)

An Elite 4 arc would pretty much be the perfect way to bring back almost all of Ash's older pokemon, in my opinion.

Yeah, but that's still a ways off. I also get this feeling Ash is going to do the Frontier Brains before any Elite 4 stuff.

It would make sense for Cynthia to be the final climatic battle of DP, instead of say Palmer, for example.
