Hey, anyone else in band? This means any kind, school, jazz, etc.

If so, what instrument do you play? Are you in a marching band? And finally, what's your favorite part of band?

I play the tuba, trumpet, piano, and french horn. Tuba is my main instrument. I'm in the marching band as well as the school's jazz band. I'd have to say my favorite part is when we're doing a show and we win. The feeling is just amazing.

Used to be in sixth grade as a drummer and the ever-so-girly music instrument, the Tuba.

I am. My school is awesome. The schools's band program is a rock/metal band. I am on the bass, but I'm pretty familiar with Guitar, Drums, and Keyboards.

That's really interesting, what's your school name? and do you march/perform with those instruments?

When I was in high school, I was in the band; our school was an arts school and one of its focus was musical theater. No marching band, no jazz bands. But we played musicals, and it was fun.

Anyways, I played trombone, and still have an interest in forming like a garage ska band or some shit.

It's called Antonito High School, located in Antonito, CO (AKA the middle of nowhere). And no, we don't march. We set up like were a regular old guitar-bass-drums-vocals band. But we got a whole crapload of guitars and we have a sax player.

Wow, I don't think we have schools like that in Hesperia (another in the middle of nowhere place except it's in California XD). Man I wish we did! That would be so awesome.

I'm not in a band, but one of my classmates offered me to join theirs. I'm still not sure if I should join or not.

Nope, never. My school does have a schoolband however.

JAZZ ALL TEH WAYY. I play Saxophones, Alto, Tenor and Seprano even though I major Alto. I've been playing since 1st grade.

And I'm in 9th.

SICK.

...Assuming plain ol' choirs don't come into this. D; I was in our borough's for a while.

But other than that I've only been the vocalist for one some classmates had for a while, until exams and so on just stopped us practicing totally. I don't really know any instruments properly, but I really want to learn to play the piano. I played the clarinet for a while when I was younger. "OTL

I've played the Trombone for 8 years =] about to go to college with it! Band = love :crush:

You should. It's a really fun and rewarding experience.

If I could reccomend an instrument, I'd say pretty much any brass(trombone trumpet, etc.) instrument. But that's just me, you could be good at a percussion(drums) or woodwind(clarinet, saxophone, flute)

I've been playing guitar for a couple of weeks now (yeah it's not an awesome brass, but what can I do?) anyways, my friend plays bass and we're looking to get together for next year's battle of the bands, but we need a drummer. Who knows on that, but that's the closes to a band I've come. My brother was in a band though...

I'm in band! I play clarinet.

Marching band is the best. EVER. I might be a drum major next year, which would be awesome.

I didn't mean orchestra band. I meant some sort of rock band.

That'd be cool being a drum major! My friend tried out last year but he didn't make it D8. But I'm sure if you try you'll make it. BTW what's the name of your show? Ours is The Color Wheel

Thanks for the confidence! Actually, I'm not sure, this other guy who didn't try out last year is trying out this year. People seem to think he's going to make it.

The way drum major tryouts work is you go and tryout no matter what leadership position you want, there are the drum majors, the captains (woodwind captain, brass captain, drum captain, in charge of those larger sections) and the section leaders for specific instruments. Last year I tried out for clarinet section leader. I didn't get it, but I was a freshman and a bunch of juniors tried out, so I wasn't too disappointed.

But, if I'm a drum major next year I get to be head drum major when I'm a senior. Every year there are 1-2 drum majors who are seniors, one of which was a dm when they were a junior making them head dm, and a dm who's a junior and who's going to be head dm next year.

Well, we'll see how it goes. I think I can make it though.

And our show doesn't really have a name... we just play music and march out onto the field and play music at halftime.
