Anyone know about the Sega CD and Saturn? Lunar?

Yeah, I'm getting a Sega Saturn, and I'm looking into a specific set of games and getting conflicting information.

I want to get Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar: Eternal Blue. I looked on wikipedia, and it was on the list of Saturn games. Yet, clicking on either one, their pages said they are for the Sega CD.

Now, this brings me to the question of whether or not the Sega Saturn plays the Sega CD games? Are they the same thing, or what?

edit: I'm aware this is a very old system to be asking about. XD Meh.
 
Are you sure they're for the Sega CD? Wikipedia, for instance, says it's just for the Saturn. (The Sega CD was an addon to the Genesis.)
 
Well, that's the thing. Here's what I've been seeing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar:_The_Silver_Star - ..you get this said on it, "Lunar: The Silver Star (ルナ~サ・シルバースター Runa Za Shirubā Sutā) is the first game in the Lunar series and is a console RPG created by Game Arts for the Mega CD platform in Japan. It was the most popular game for the entire platform in Japan during the Mega CD's short lifespan." And if you look in the box that holds information on the game, it says its platform is the Sega CD.

On ebay:
I also looked it up there to find the game, and it's box also says Sega CD- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...40005993690&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

So I don't know. :/ I haven't found one where the box is the Sega Saturn box.
 
I see. Yet in the metadata box, it says it's for Saturn...

We have two things:
- Silver Star Story is for the Saturn
- Silver Star Story is for the Mega CD, which is apparently an addon to the Genesis

Which right now to me completely contradictory. Sorry I can't help more. :(
 
Well, I decided to try looking up the version that's on the playstation (which I have, and is why I'm bashing myself over the head for not thinking of looking there) and it too says it's on the saturn. Now it's finding it and getting it that'll be fun. DX

:D Though it would be nice if they'd clarify all of this on the articles for Lunar and the system game list, so this confusion doesn't happen again. x.x
