I just started the English game and there are two things that I had no clue about even after having the Japaneses game:
(okay, first things to note that may not have to do with it, but I traded the eggs from my Japanese game)
Genderless Pokemon with egg moves!? This could have been in Ruby and Sapphire (as I really didn't bother with genderless pokemon until DP) but I didn't know about it. My baby rotom inherited Thunderbolt from my Japaneses one. As far as I know, they don't learn this naturally, and I'm pretty sure they won't give you thunderbolt and thundershock at the same time. It was surprising! (The complete set of moves was thundershock, thunderbolt, double team, and confuse ray)
The second I have no clue what it is or the effects really. It could be the pokerus for all I know (but there isn't showing any symbols for it). My sandshrew seems to take bites of something before it does a move with a status effect sometimes (it's holding a quick claw, not a berry). It also seems to occur more when HP is down. There is no proof, but it seems to increase the chance of an effect occurring. So far it's the only time I've ever seen this happen.
So, is there anything else in the games that have caught anyone else by surprise?
