He did alot for the poor in his country that will always be his lasting legacy, but he also supported some pretty evil regimes. Either way the end of his presidency did not come from the ballot box but from cancer itself. This will have a massive impact in South America and Central America as one of the last key supporters of Cuba could be gone, as well as a supporter of what was a growing list of socialist governments.

RIP Chavez. You did some good, you did mostly bad, but you were still doing it for the people. I hope Venezuela doesn't become a hot zone, it would not be fair to the people.

Since I'm a Venezuelan and I'm living there (I actually found this out a couple of hours ago -w-) I actually feel a bit bad, even if the guy was really bad it's not like he was completely (he was mostly bad) but it's weird not seeing him around since he's the only president I've known my whole life so now I worry. Either way I just hope things get better over here from now on.

I'm Venezuelan, and I can't honestly be more relieved that the guy is finally gone. I'm not even sad. Of course, he was a human being, so I'm not happy either. He did many, many bad things, and they outnumber the good things he made.

My heart goes out to his family as they deal with this period of loss. Hugo Chavez was many things both good and bad, and it will be interesting to see the political repercussions of this.

Is it though? I'm not Venezuelan so I'm not caught up on the news, but a friend of mine said things are gonna pretty much be the same, what with the VP being allowed to run for office.

Yeah it's pretty tough, because if the VP ends up becoming president then we'll actually be in a worst state cause at least Chavez cared, even if he was cuckoo.

Yeah, Nicolás Maduro is an idiot and obviously doesn't know how to direct a country, but hopefully Capriles will beat him in April 14.

The problem is that the people that supported Chavez are still technically (I still don't believe it) a majority, and even if he's dead they're still stupid enough to fall for anything the government says if it means making their lives better.
