You remember how in the Red, Blue and Yellow manuals they listed Red as being eleven? That applies to Leaf and Green too.

So are all the protagonists eleven when they start out? I've always thought of Dawn, Lucas, Pearl, May, Brendan, Wally, Hibiki, Kotone and Silver as being ten when they start out.

The guide only SAYS that, but how do they know for sure? D: I don't know, I always figured their age was anywhere between 10-12.

I always thought they were like 13 or 14, seriously they all look way older than 10 or 11.

Especially in the newer artwork.

Really?

Well Misty doesn't look like a fourteen year old. I guess Pokemon characters tend to look younger or older then they are.

I can believe the DPPt hero and heroine are, especially with what the heroine is wearing. But they'd be awfully short for 13-14 year olds.

Uh...Given how the manuals are written by the people that make the games, I'd assume they're a pretty good indicator of the actual ages of the people they mention.

Anyways, yeah, all the protagonists are supposed to be young kids. The games are targeted at little kids, so obviously, the protagonists are kids themselves.

I go with 10 (or 11 in RGBY) in general. However, in RSE, the characters seemed a bit older to me. Not just design-wise, though that's a definite factor, but with the way they acted (particularly the rival). In my mind I place them around 14, but I realize that they are likely meant to be around ten years old. p:

This doesn't include the GCN games, though. Wes and Michael are seriously older than ten. Unless they really are listed as ten, to which I would have to raise a brow.

I thought we were talking about the protagonists, Misty is not a game protagonist. It really doesn't matter how old Misty is.

May is one well-developed eleven year old

I think they are that young. It's just the art that makes them look older, but all other indications are that they are indeed that young.

>> I was quite that developed at the age of 11. Sometimes it starts early for some girls.

Ohh. Wooshed over my head there, it did...

But yeah, they main-game characters all look 10-12.

They all look around 14 to me. Well Red and Hibiki don't, they look extremely young, but the others look older than 10.

look they got to be 10 to get ther first pokemon and to be able to start goin to gyms and to be able to walk on ther own to go on a adventure 10 or older but i have seen episodes that some trainers grew up with ther pokemon when they were younger then 10

We are talking about protagonists. I'm just saying how Pokemon characters tend to not look their age for whatever reason.

Red? With his new look? He looked like a 9 year old in RBGY, and an eleven year old in GSC but..In his remake look?

Hibiki has always looked pretty young.

Anyway; Does the "You must be ten to apply to fight the league" rule apply for the games?

your point?

In his debut, Red is explicitly stated to be eleven in the manual. This is presumably true for Leaf as well, since she is Red's female counterpart. As GSCHGSS takes place three years after RGBYFRLG, Red/Leaf would then be fourteen.

I think of May as being ten, though. Something about her original design gives her a sense of naïvety. Brendan, though, looks closer to twelve.

Gold and Kris look about eleven or twelve. Kotone...she looks like she could even be nine, but at least according to the anime, that's too young to be a trainer, so I'd say ten.

Dawn I would place around ten or eleven, ignoring her sense of style (or lack thereof). Lucas looks like he's around eleven to fourteen.

Wes definitely looks as though he is intended to be seventeen, while Rui looks around fifteen. Michael...I'd say around thirteen to fourteen.

Todd Snap. I'd put him at about fifteen or sixteen.

Lucy Fleetfoot...er, we'll skip her. She doesn't even look human.

Solana and Lunick are, I think, intended to be in their late teens. I would say the same for Mark and Mint.

Kellyn and Kate look to be around ten or eleven.

Have I missed anyone?

I believe they're meant to be ten, but what kind of parents are letting their children roam around the entire countryside at ten years old? thats just plain irresponsible, oh and what type of self respecting trainers are getting their asses kicked by kids when they've been raising their pokemon presumably all their lives? the answer is simple. its a video game. who cares? period.

They don't have an official age. It was never said how old protagonists after Red were. Who knows? Red's age might of been retconned as well.

I say they're around 10-14.
