Are they like Miltank and Tauros? You know, a couple set.

As in stereotypically mating couple? I doubt it. But as far as counterparts go, they're a couple. Magikarp needs to get to level 20 to evolve, which is a feat in itself, whereas Feebas, evolving through Beauty, is near impossible with a disliking naure. Weak Magikarp - Strong Gyarados. Ugly Feebas - Beautiful Milotic.

I think they're a kind of pair that is similar, such as Electabuzz and Magmar, but something like Miltank and Tauros are more like the Nidos. Complimentary, but not male/female complimentary.

I just want to note that the relation between Tauros and Miltank is fanon. If you breed Miltank, you will only get other Miltank. If you breed Nidoran♀, it makes either the male or female Nido, and if you breed an Illumise, you either get Volbeat or Illumise. If Tauros was meant to be the male of Miltank, then it would be a result of breeding with it, but it isn't. (at least for now) As for them being similar in relation to Magikarp and Feebas, it would be plausible. Again, groupings like this are fan-made, and I don't think there is any official standing on it. Then again, we just had an ep where Magikarp and Feebas were blatantly shown as being similar in nature.

Well I don't just think that Magikarp may be related to Feebas, but to Remoraid as well. Remoraid may evolve into a cephalopod instead of a sea serpent, but LOOK AT THEM!

All three of them have that same, clueless expression!

But evolving Remoraid is easy, where as Magikarp and Feebas require effort.

Not really. Remoraid learns 2 moves (Water Gun and Lock On) until right before it evolves. It is also slow and cannot take a hit.

Remoraid can at least train in places like Mt. Moon, where as Magikarp can't attack in order to train. Tackle isn't super effective against anything, and it's also rather slow.

and it's also rather slow.
I thought Magicarp had superior speed for something that weak? o_O Not superior like, it could outspeed the general Electric type, but it wasn't a bad stat compared its others. All mine were pretty fast (all the more reason to Run, my dear~).

But, yes, Feebas and Magikarp aren't a set so much as they're a theme. They can be both genders, which knocks out the Volbeat/Illumise and Nido comparisons on the spot.

thanks for everyone's feedback. You all brought up really interesting idea and came up with wonderful conclusions. It makes me want to train a Magikarp or Feebas right now... Hmm maybe Remoraid too? Cheers!:party:

I think they are counterparts. Weak->Lots of Effort->Strong vs. Ugly->Lots of Effort->Beautiful.

As there is also a notoriously weak poke that evolves into a really strong poke and changes greatly each gen, I think we should also count in Mitsuhoney.

It has no good stats other than Speed, Learns two moves (Gust and Sweet Scent), and evolves into a really strong poke (Beequeen)
