Well are they open homosexuals? I just saw an episode from last week and Harley is constantly saying things like "Girlfriend" and I think he told Max something along the lines that he was kind of a man.

The "James is gay" stuff died as soon as Harley was introduced back in 2004.

Harley was purposely given gay mannerisms and suggestive dialouge, he's meant to be a funny stereotype. Since apparently girls find gay men funny, and May's character and story was aimed at the female fanbase, they decided to introduce him to play off her.

I believe its the same thing with Hikari's arc, another leading female character who was introduced for the female fanbase, continuing off of May's success as a female leading heroine for girls to identify with, (am I going overboard...? Ha!), many people have Nozomi pegged for a lesbian.

In fact, most of the coordinators on this show can be passed off as gay or metrosexual. The rules of Contests are you must be fabulous, highly attractive, or swing both ways, hence the amount of stereotypes all the coordinators on the show rely on.

Thanks you hit the nail on the head.

At first I assumed Harley being gay was just another conspiracy theory. That was until I saw Harley flirt with Brock.

Maybe that should be changed to "girls think Gay men are sexy". Just look at all the Yaoi anime stuff out there. (Gravitation anyone?) Gay men are female fanservice ^^.

I'll vouch for that.

Well that makes sense, since guys tend to like lesbians.

Isn't it funny that there's so much hate toward homosexuality in the world, yet people find the opposite gender having sex with one another (such as girls liking guy/guy and guys liking girl/girl) attractive?

Our society is fucked up.

I'm guessing it's different people that like or hate homosexuality. ;-)

And we don't mean that in a "gay/stupid way".

We mean it in a sexual way.

No, I know what Scott means. People all the time go "Gay boys are sick! But lesbians are alright with me!"

Also, girl x girl isn't made a big of a deal as boy x boy here in America atleast.

That's because girls themselves seem way more open with homosexuality.

Straight girls will kiss each other on dares without any problems, yet most straight guys would absolutely refuse to do that ever.

Look at how many people want Hikari to fall for Nozomi. Or May and Kelly. etc.

More like

"Pokemon! Promoting the word "Gay" since 1998"

*shot*

Yeah, Until I read various posts on SPPf, I had no clue he was Gay. I knew he was a guy, but never did it occur to me he was gay.

Now he's probably the best character ever!

Careful - they could always pull a Ruby and have him declare his undying love to May next year. XD

Harley's so great, the May cross dressing was the best joke ever! James never went that far (and cross dressed into Misty)! James isn't gay, he's bishonen. That's why he's so girlly with the long hair. The writers at Pokemon hate bishi people, because bishi people stole their girl friends so they constantly have him get beat up by pikachu.

I want to know why the fanbase has said Nozomi is a lesbian, because it doesn't play out well, it's not like she's Ash's rival, she's Hikari's and I don't think that the writers will ever make a main character gay. But, I want to see what they do with Nozomi's voice in the dub. I think they will try to avoid the "Nozomi is a lesbian" things in the dub, just because, I think parents would get more freaked out if there was a butch-lesbian on a show, rather then an effeminate gay.

I don't know, maybe that's just me?

I'm so glad they introduced Harley. Not only is he a great character, but now people are finally laying off poor James (I still don't understand why We're No Angels didn't tip them off, but whatever) and realizing that as far as gay stereotypes goes, James kind of fails miserably. Seeing how his gayness was pretty much a dub thing (he was always more of a gigantic dork than anything) and Harley actually uses 'atashi' to refer to himself in the original, it's not surprising.

Of course, it doesn't stop Pokemopolis, but you know. They're Pokemopolis.

(Nothing against people who still think James is gay. I just think that all the evidence we do have on his sexual preferences indicates that he's not gay.)
