In GSC and HGSS, we have Proton of Team Rocket cut off Slowpoke Tails, and we see someone selling them, saying that they're delicious and nutritious.

...really?

Then, does this mean there were people who ACTUALLY ate them?

So humans do eat pokemon...no?

Its not impossible. It will probably never be expicitly stated, but you never know....

Mmmm..I could really go for a Emboar or Grumpig steak right now...with Slugma hot sauce,or jellied Huntail with a glass of Miltank milk on the side,or some Remoraid caviar served in a Clamperl Shell...I really could go for a few slices of toast with Oddish jam on top, with a slice of Rapidash pie on the side. For dessert,I wouldn't mind a Cherubi pie.
Well,I'm hungry.Anyone else?

According to one of the folk stories you can read in the Canalave Library, people used to eat Pokemon caught in the sea. After eating, they throw the bones back into the water, which would make the Pokemon return, fully fleshed.

I don't see why it wouldn't be edible. We eat animals, so can they; I'm sure that before trainers came about, people ate Pokemon to survive. ._.

Everything is edible, even you. But that, children, is called cannibalism.

Yes, SlowpokeTails are edible. Quite tastey from what I hear, as they secrete a delicious substance which makes Shellder want to bite them.

But anyway, eating Pokémon has been mentioned in other instances. Farfetch'd is endangered due to overhunting, as he is delicious and carries a leak with him which goes great with duck. Also in the anime it was mentioned how Magikarp is just scales and bones... and can't be eaten (implying that other fish Pokémon are edible).

Why wouldn't they be? Just because you wouldn't eat something does not mean it's not edible.

Probably, but If I ever get transported into the pokemon world, I'm becoming a vegetarian.

It's like human eating animals in the real world (e.g someone eating a steak from a cow.)

And in the Pokemon world humans probably eat Pokemon, well that's my assumption. I would love to taste some Magikarp soup or Tauros stew.

Yeah, I'd assume that people just eat Pokémon (hamburgers being made from Tauros / Miltank, etc.)... if it weren't for the fact that Ash was wearing a "cowterpie" costume (indicating that cows do exist). I still find it unlikely that all of their food comes from some obscure animal that is never even seen, so I'm assuming that even though cows exist... people probably just eat Pokémon as well.

Pokemon are essentially the pokemon worlds animals, in most cases... so I don't see how it's any different from you non-vegetarians eating a cow or pig or whatever...
Real-world humans have cows, bull, ducks.. and the pokemon world humans have miltank, tauros, and farfetch'd I would think.
Slowpoke shows no signs of being particularly poisonous or unhealthy, compared to any other animal... so why should they not be able to be eaten?
