I think that all of Ash’s returning Pokemon will have some new moves in their set. Just look back at Pokemon that he would randomly call up during the Johto Saga. A good example is his Muk and Heracross. During the match against Gary, they used Sludge Bomb and Megahorn respectively. His Charizard would always have a new move after its training sessions in the valley and the same is true for Squirtle.
One of the best examples is his Snorlax, Ash would just tell it to use moves that it never used before such as Ice Punch or Protect. His Kingler knew Hyper Beam right after it evolved in its first battle. Looking at the preview from the next episode during the fight against Nando it seems Heracross also has some new moves it looks like Close Combat but I’m not sure.
Well, it’s good that he finally has a Quilava on his team and even in the games it’s a pretty good fighter with the right stats and move set. I mean the guy could have 3 fully evolved Johto Pokemon, 3 fully evolved Kanto starters (he already has Charizard), Crawdaunt, Garchomp and Floatzel. Along with the other powerhouses like Snorlax and Swellow he would probably win the league hands down. I’m just glad that he has called back some of his reserves so the matches will be good and not completely ran by plot. I am referring to matches that Ash wins with 1st stage Pokemon against fully evolved opponents like in previous league matches.
Really disappointed Swellow and Sceptile aren’t going to be in the league those two have some pretty impressive winning streaks. I want a Swellow vs Honchrow match because those two both have shown us their incredible defensive powers. The Thunder Armor and taking the numerous electric attacks from Pikachu when it was still a Taillow and Honchrow has shown powerful stamina in its battles as well. Though I think Torterra will get its revenge.
I don’t know the rules of the league like how the first rounds of battle will be. However, by the threads I am reading the first round is 3-on-3, but I wish Ash’s battles against his rivals were all 6-on-6 to spice things up. The fans deserve to see these matches in full battles am I right? We’ve waited this long for the league and Ash battling these people they should at least give us some awesome matches to root for!
Considering I’m in the U.S, all I can do is watch Japanese versions of the show on Youtube to watch the league matches. It’s going to spoil it for me once it comes out in my country, but this is the first league that I am dying to see. For some reason I want to see this league much more than the others.
I liked the ending of DP 182 at the opening ceremonies the background music fit the mood perfectly. I also liked when Ash looked around at his rivals and especially the chance encounter with Paul. He just looked at Ash and turned his head, I think it’s a sign of a huge battle. Notice the look on his face and how he reacted. Sometimes he might give a scowl or something, but nothing but his usual stoic face. I think it could be related to the old saying “You can say more by not saying anything than you ever could by talking.” Meaning that his look said more than any insult he could have said to Ash.
In all honesty, I think that he recognizes just a bit of respect for Ash looking at Infernape. If anything I was surprised he did not see Ash looking for his other Pokemon and how they playfully attacked them. If it was the first 2 series of DP then I would not be surprised if he gave him the “pathetic” speech.
Considering Ash is going to use some of his other teammates, I really feel that Paul is going to bust out something we never expected him to.
Well, I think its best if I stop racking my brain over the league and just sit back and watch the battles unfold. It would be something if Cynthia mentions how Ash and friends helped to save all of Sinnoh and the rest of the world (which is highly unlikely…). Hope there are cameos from people like Misty, May and others.
