Are there going to be new moves for Ash’s returning Pokemon?

I think that all of Ash’s returning Pokemon will have some new moves in their set. Just look back at Pokemon that he would randomly call up during the Johto Saga. A good example is his Muk and Heracross. During the match against Gary, they used Sludge Bomb and Megahorn respectively. His Charizard would always have a new move after its training sessions in the valley and the same is true for Squirtle.

One of the best examples is his Snorlax, Ash would just tell it to use moves that it never used before such as Ice Punch or Protect. His Kingler knew Hyper Beam right after it evolved in its first battle. Looking at the preview from the next episode during the fight against Nando it seems Heracross also has some new moves it looks like Close Combat but I’m not sure.

Well, it’s good that he finally has a Quilava on his team and even in the games it’s a pretty good fighter with the right stats and move set. I mean the guy could have 3 fully evolved Johto Pokemon, 3 fully evolved Kanto starters (he already has Charizard), Crawdaunt, Garchomp and Floatzel. Along with the other powerhouses like Snorlax and Swellow he would probably win the league hands down. I’m just glad that he has called back some of his reserves so the matches will be good and not completely ran by plot. I am referring to matches that Ash wins with 1st stage Pokemon against fully evolved opponents like in previous league matches.

Really disappointed Swellow and Sceptile aren’t going to be in the league those two have some pretty impressive winning streaks. I want a Swellow vs Honchrow match because those two both have shown us their incredible defensive powers. The Thunder Armor and taking the numerous electric attacks from Pikachu when it was still a Taillow and Honchrow has shown powerful stamina in its battles as well. Though I think Torterra will get its revenge.

I don’t know the rules of the league like how the first rounds of battle will be. However, by the threads I am reading the first round is 3-on-3, but I wish Ash’s battles against his rivals were all 6-on-6 to spice things up. The fans deserve to see these matches in full battles am I right? We’ve waited this long for the league and Ash battling these people they should at least give us some awesome matches to root for!

Considering I’m in the U.S, all I can do is watch Japanese versions of the show on Youtube to watch the league matches. It’s going to spoil it for me once it comes out in my country, but this is the first league that I am dying to see. For some reason I want to see this league much more than the others.

I liked the ending of DP 182 at the opening ceremonies the background music fit the mood perfectly. I also liked when Ash looked around at his rivals and especially the chance encounter with Paul. He just looked at Ash and turned his head, I think it’s a sign of a huge battle. Notice the look on his face and how he reacted. Sometimes he might give a scowl or something, but nothing but his usual stoic face. I think it could be related to the old saying “You can say more by not saying anything than you ever could by talking.” Meaning that his look said more than any insult he could have said to Ash.

In all honesty, I think that he recognizes just a bit of respect for Ash looking at Infernape. If anything I was surprised he did not see Ash looking for his other Pokemon and how they playfully attacked them. If it was the first 2 series of DP then I would not be surprised if he gave him the “pathetic” speech.

Considering Ash is going to use some of his other teammates, I really feel that Paul is going to bust out something we never expected him to.

Well, I think its best if I stop racking my brain over the league and just sit back and watch the battles unfold. It would be something if Cynthia mentions how Ash and friends helped to save all of Sinnoh and the rest of the world (which is highly unlikely…). Hope there are cameos from people like Misty, May and others.

Well Quilava , Torkoal, Charizard, etc got new attacks so most likelly yes, unless some of them only work as fodder and get beaten without even doing anything, ala Noctowl in Johto.

I hope Noctowl gets sky attack, that would be a great move for it.

Todo with ice fang or icy wind would be nice.

Quilava has eruption so i am happy with it

Not sure what attack i want Bayleef to have

Let's see. We witnessed Quilava's Eruption, so that's all right.

Totodile with Ice Fang and Aqua Jet.

Bayleef might as well use Reflect or Light Screen (Reflect, as it's rare seen now).

Corphish with Crunch, plus an evolution but knowing the writers...

Noctowl can try the sleep+Dream Eater, but God Bird/Sky Attack will do. Other surprises like Heat Wave will do.

I just hope toto and bayleef over anyone gets some. Maybe Ice fang/punch or crunch for toto, and magical leaf for bayleef.

Toto should get Ice Fang and Superpower

Bayleef... Ancient Power ? Role Play was mentionned as a possibility... Nature Power ?

Noctowl Sky Attack/Extrasensory/Zen Headbutt

The rest are good... since Heracross is probably getting a fighting move (finally...) and Quilava got 3 new moves...

Todo with Superpower for epicness.

Noctowl needs a new move. Badly. Zen Headbutt/Sky Attack are the most likely.

Looks like Quilava learned Flame Wheel while Ash wasn't around and Eruption after evolving from Cyndaquil.

I'm hoping that:
-Noctowl gets Air Slash or Extrasensory
-Totodile gets Superpower or Ice Fang
-Bayleef gets Magical Leaf
-Corphish gets Night Slash
-Heracross gets Close Combat
-Snorlax gets Giga Impact
-Sceptile gets Dragon Pulse

Well Quilava got 2 in it's returning episode plus it looks like it's using a third new one in it's battle with Nando's Armaldo.

Heracross looks like it's using something new while it's battling Kricketune.

So yeah I think we'll probably see some new moves out of some of the other pokemon Ash is bringing back.

Of course.

But I'm betting any new move will be something familiar to us. And the ultimate result will be classic moves mixed with fresh moves.

Um, let's see what's confirmed so far...
Quilava- Flame Wheel (it wasn't seen using it during Johto), Eruption (learned after evolving), what seems to be Aerial Ace
Heracross- what appears to be Brick Break

So, yeah, Ash's other Oaked pokemon will probably learn new attacks, especially to accomodate the new moveset changes each gen.

Noctowl had better get something like Air Slash.
Totodile might get Ice Fang or Superpower.
Maybe Muk Gunk Shot?
Bayleef Ancient Power or Magical Leaf?
Or Snorlax Giga Impact?

Blastoise? The Squirtle Squad would be surprised to see their leader as a Wartortle, let alone a Blastoise.

In the Torterra-Torterra showdown maybe?

The league had better seed them appropriately. I had better expect the rivalries in the quarters, semis and/or final. A first-round rivalry match is ridiculous!

I just go to Serebii to see the pictures, if not watch them on YouTube. Or I can wait until the English episodes actually air...

I'm sure it did too.

Like an Electivire? The same Elekid and Electabuzz from earlier Ash-Paul encounters?

I feel the exact same way.
Hope there are cameos from people like Misty, May and others.
Gary maybe?

To Pika 25;

True, Sqiurtle’s evolution would mean being sent to another firefighting team of one of its evolutions. However, it has so many battle strategies and techniques in its 1st stage. If it was fully evolved it could really be a serious powerhouse. I mean it can see through smoke and among other helpful maneuvers that may be amplified through evolution. Just think of a Blastoise that could do all of that and not to mention the attacks that it can only learn through evolution like Focus Blast or Giga Impact/Hyper Beam.

Oh, I was referring to Torterra finally defeating Honchrow in the league. Considering, Honchrow easily defeated it as a Grotle twice. I don’t see much of a grudge between to two Torterras. If the two did battle it would be like a student/teacher match since Paul’s Torterra taught Grotle how to use its defenses to its advantage. I mean the Energy Ball “power-up” may take Paul by surprise though.

Yeah, seeing the rivals disappear at the start of the league really grinds my gears. I hope they just don’t up and leave after their defeats. I mean look at Harrison, Gary, Morrison and Tyson. We got glimpses from some of their matches (especially Morrison). They got some good screen-time as well as full battles with Ash. It’s going to be sad to see they get eliminated so quickly. I am praying that we get to see the Barry vs. Paul fight (which I hope is a full match). I just feel bad for poor Nando, he had so much potential I thought he was going to win the GF. Considering he doesn’t have a speaking role in the show for over 100 episodes and when he did show up he would battle and prove to be a powerful trainer/coordinator. He beat Gardenia on his first try unlike Ash (well it was a practice match but it still counts) and not to mention he beat Zoey on his first try unlike both Ash and Dawn. I thought he was going to be the Solidad or Robert of the GF. Now he is going to get eliminated in the first round of the league that ticks me off!

I used to do the same on that website to view pictures from the episodes, but that was before I got wireless internet to replace my dial-up. No need to say that I couldn’t watch Youtube videos on dial-up. Now I love watching the videos…can’t understand a word they are saying, but since I know the context and attacks of the series I can follow along. I want to wait for the U.S. version, but if I didn’t have high speed internet to watch the episodes as soon as they come out I would have to.

I pretty much expect Electivere on Paul’s team especially considering he has Magmortar, why not have both? If I put one on my team I always have to have to other haha. What I mean is I think that he will have some reserve powerhouses that he will unleash on the other trainers; I think their first victims will be Barry.

Thanks for agreeing because there is no need to dwell on high expectations that may not be rewarded like the GF. I think I’ve posted much of what I think is going to happen in the league. I don’t know about this legendary trainer, but as soon as I heard the first legendary Pokemon that popped into my head was Heatran.

I really hope for Gary to appear along with numerous others haha, but there are too many to list. I was really hoping for Gary to appear at the league, but that may not come to pass. If they did do it I wouldn’t be surprised if Oak and Ash’s mom came. It would be the perfect excuse; Oak comes to visit his grandson at the time of the league and he invites Delia to come. They then proceed to head off to the tournament. If I’m right they never show up until the victory round like in Kanto and Johto.

Especially mad about Charizard not coming back it has not been seen or mentioned throughout the entire DP series. Though if Ash wins and faces the Elite 4 and Cynthia it might make an appearance, but then again I’m not going to try and rack my brain over it whatever happens, happens.
