or are animals that exist in our world completely replaced by pokemon in their world? i don't think i've ever even seen a common house cat in the anime or video games

thoughts to ponder...

In the early anime, occasionally there was a dog, bird, or fish to be seen. I can't remember there being any in the games or manga, so that's it, I suppose.

A question as old as time.

I reply with the same as Quest above, adding a confirmation to your second question: that, maybe, there were animals once upon a time, but Pokemon showed us what Darwin's concept of evolution can do and they're now all extinct.

but i have seen regular fish no telling how many times in earily anime

Ignoring the animé and remaining in the Game Universe, I would say no. Being that my idea of the Pokémon World is a planet which humans settled on long ago, forgetting the more advanced technologies that allowed them to get there and resetting themselves due to the technology causing the Earth to freeze over, seen in Kirby 64 as Shiver Star (yes, I think the Kirby games take place in the same universe), bar technology that allows the portability of creatures and items in one's pocket. Modern Pokéworld humans don't know of their ancestor's abandonment of Space-age tech, only knowing they once had a Space Shuttle that was brought with them to remember the good ol' days of Earth, which they've reverse engineered and placed in a museum, where old men believe they watched the moon landings...even though that was on a different planet. The ruins? A sentient race before humans that either left or entered a different plane of existance. Resemblence to Earth's Japan? Terraforming Technology to make it more home-y or Regigigas doing it for them when requested before they feared it's power and sealed it away.

I've gotta stop these long rants. Basically, no, I don't think real animals exist in the Pokémon World.

More evidence of non-pokemon species. Not sure whether to call it a real world animal or not as I don't recognise this bird as anything that exists. More likely to be just a generic exotic looking bird.

There has to be how else would they what to call the pokemons species i mean pikachu the mouse pokemon a mouse is a real pokemon rattata rat pokemon theres tons of them so there has to be real animals or at least real animals used to live there when they were naming the species in the anime.

The 'mouse' Pokemon is more like a classification than an actual reference to real mice. And also, its there to show us(We, not the PC) what that Pokemon is based on if it wasn't obvious enough already.
