Are they ever going to follow up on Team Rocket's capture of Rayquaza?

I think it was at the beginning of the 9th movie, they showed a scene of Hun and Attila having captured Rayquaza in some Team Rocket base.

Do you think we'll see a follow up on that or was it just meant to be a glimpse of TR's activities while Ash isn't around to stop them?

God I hope so.

But the thought of Team Rocket actually having a legendary in their possession titillates me so...

Rayquaza broke free and obliterated everyone within a 30 mile radius. Some people never learn ~_~

I really wish they would. I'm not sure how they would do it unless they just decided to do a random special or cover it in a second season of Pokemon Chronicles (which would probably be very unlikely), because it seems that in the regular anime, outside of JJ&M that Team Rocket mostly just doesn't exist anymore.

I think it has great potential as maybe a 3 episode arc like the Raikou special a la PC, or like the baby Lugia arc.

Unfortunately, this wouldn't happen unless Ash and co. had some reason to go back to Hoenn, so unless they do go the Chronicles way again then I doubt we'll ever get to see. :(

But really, nobody can know how much I would LOVE for that to happen.

I could have sworn that it was just a one shot deal in the movie, sort of like a "Their will always be evil in the world, but Ash Ketchum shall save the world once again from destruction when those days arrive."

I'm certain that it was a throwaway shot only used to show how humans can mistreat Pokémon for their own evil ends.

It won't be touched upon at all.

They could inexplicably show up in Sinnoh, like Mikuri.

Episode?

You'd need a special/movie for something as epic as Rayquaza, I'm sorry.

It won't be touched upon at all.

You can't say that with conviction, because you don't know. Nobody expected the Raikou special to ever be dubbed, and just when we were all like "Oh, well" they decided to dub it and all the Hoso's into Pokemon Chronicles.

You never know what they're going to do next.

We're probably not going to get any big Team Rocket stories until Team Galactic is disbanded though. The writers focus is on whatever new evil team is from the newest games, which is why we see very little of TR as an organization anymore.

To be honest outside of the occasional Butch/Cassidy episode, there really hasn't been any big Team Rocket story since the Red Gyarados 2-parter back in Johto. That was what...almost 6-7 years ago?

They don't bother with Team Rocket anymore because Team Rocket has been far too overshowcased as an organization.

There are other ways you can use Pokémon for your own nefarious purposes. What does Team Rocket do with the Pokémon they acquire? Make money of off them? There's nothing new that can be done with that.

You never know what they're going to do next.

That's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. I'm certain that they won't touch upon it because:

1. Rayquaza's from the 3rd gen, it's old news compared to the 4th gen's shiny new legendaries they could showcase.

2. Team Rocket's even older news.

So much love on this thread.

What does Ash do with the Pokemon he captures? Uses them to get badges and win battles? There's nothing new that can be done with that.

I mean, it's Pokemon, for crissakes. Repetitive show is repetitive.

Perhaps for the anime.

Team Rocket cannot be the only force of evil in the entire universe.

They don't even make threating villains.

Man, so much could had been gotten out of that Rayquaza thing. Damnit, just like they screwed up their chances in the Battle Frontier arc they screwed up with this.

They could had made a special with this advertising BOTH Emerald and FRLG. Throw in the heroes from those games and there. Kill two birds with one stone. >_> But noooo, we get hosos starring Ritchie. D=

Ho-Oh is bound to have a movie eventually and it's even *older* news. Heck, technically we haven't seen Groudon or Entei in movies yet (and dammit, Kyogre needs a proper one).

Correction--Jesse, James, Meowth, Butch, and Cassidy don't make threatening villians. Pretty much everyone else does. And remember what Giovanni's *actually* like compared to what Meowth thinks of him.

Anyway, it would be very interesting to see it expanded upon. Perhaps near the end of the series. I mean heck, we never thought we'd hear anything about Jesse's old boyfriend and yet that's shown up. Even Aura was an old plot by the time the Spiritomb episode brought it back up.

I wish they mentioned Aura more. It's an interesting topic to go along with Pokemon. It ties in with the feeling.

Jessie's old boyfriend? How the hell do we even know that it's the same boy in both instances?

Anyway, that throwaway shot was only 5 seconds long, that's not enough to base a stupid special.

The whole Aura thing was still "relatively" new (remember, Ash was always seen as some kind of "chosen one", they only added the aura element recently).

It's a throwaway shot and nothing more. Have they ever borrowed anything from movie intros before?

You guys come up with the most ludicrious things sometime.

*frowns* Aura didn't sound ludicrous to me. You build up with that than Jessie's old boyfriend, or a certain loophole.

No, it was just random art. It wasn't actually supposed to be part of the plot. Even if it was, considering the amount of heroic roaming trainers and Rangers like Jackie, Jimmy, etc. - it's safe to say that somebody else already took care of it. Like Jackie riding a Zapdos.
