Are you surprised with how little Eevee and its evo's were promoted among the cast?

Is anyone else surprised that despite how marketable Eevee and its evos were right from the beginning in Kanto, that Eevee and its forms have had only very little promotion among the main characters?

You'd think Eevee is the type of Pokemon that a main character would have had from the very beginning and gotten a lot of screentime over the course of the show, but very few main characters had an Eevee, and when they do, it gets very little screentime.

Is this surprising to anyone?

Did they get small screen time? :confused:

Haruka had an Eievui, who later evolved into a Glacia and battled in Mikuri Cup.

Nozomi got a Leafia, and I'm pretty sure it will be used in Grand Festival.

Shigeru's mascot was a Blacky. And Ayako had a Blakcy as well.

Sakura had an Eifie, who was her main Pokémon. Lila had an Eifie as well.

While original trio may have gotten less screentime, I think others got well.

But as said, everytime a major character had an Eevee, it got very little screentime.

Given the sky-high prices bits of Eeveelution merchandise sell for on the second-hand market, it is very surprising they haven't received more screentime.

Actually... now that I think about it, they really could give Eevee to each of the original trio and evolve them this way: Ash - Flareon, Misty - Vaporeon, Brock - Jolteon
Of course that probably mean Squirtle would be Misty's and Charmander would go to Brock like should've been...
And later they could continue it with May's Eevee going the way it did to Glaceon, Gary to still get Umbreon and Dawn would get Espeon for HGSS while Zoey still getting Leafeon (actually, Dawn and Zoey could work either way - both fit both of them)
This way the whole main cast and rivals would have all the Eeveelutions...

Actually, I agree. Having eevee in the main cast would be awesome. But the thing is, could they evolve it? If they evolved it they'd have to get a new eevee to promote any new eeveelutions that came around. So, you'd be stuck with an eevee that couldn't evolve and would have a tired plot point of being given the option to evolve but would always deny it, just like Pikachu.

May's Eevee only got like 5 episodes of screentime. :rolleyes:

The writers should have had May get Eevee at the very start of Battle Frontier, rather than at the tail-end when she was only there for like 20 more episodes.

I agree, I think they should have given May eevee around the time she got Munchlax and munchlax around the time she got eevee. Does that make sense ?

Well getting Munchlax when she did made sense because the writers wanted to do some early DP promotion with it.

But Eevee should happened right at the start of the BF arc. Instead they give her a Squirtle and don't give her Eevee till the tail-end of her run.

I really don't think Eevee needed more than what it got.

To me, it seems like no matter how much time it gets, people expect more. So aside from outright giving Ash an Eevee, there's no solution. Gary got one and turned it into Umbreon and it still persists today. May actually HATCHED one, meaning it was on the main team. Even evolved it into Glaceon and brought it into D&P. We've seen recently Zoey with Leafeon which is bound to be a major contender in the Grand Festival. Remember Sakura and her Eevee/Espeon? How she got more than the usual 1-episode appearance? (Do I sound like a broken record here?)

What more do you want?

They had their chance with May as far as getting one into the spotlight. Eevee can take a break. If they pandered that much to the populous we wouldn't have gotten cool evolutions like Gliscor or Mamoswine.

There isn't really a whole lot to Eevee itself. It's abilities are limited as it is... The only thing noteworthy is that it evolves into a number of Pokémon. It also would be extremely poor if everyone on the cast got an Eevee to evolve them into each of their forms.

It would only "hanicap" everyone's team potential. It's "gimmick" can only go so far and there are hundreads of other monsters that need showcasing.

So you know what? Eevee received enough screentime. It doesn't fucking need any more. Neither does Psyduck, Corphish or any other Pokémon that has been a member of the cast for a season.

Honestly, the only Pokémon that can really be considered permanent members are Pikachu and Meowth.

This thread angers me. Alot.

It angers you that we're wondering why Eevee didn't get much screentime on the cast?

Gary's Eevee is seen for a grand total of 1 episode. May's Eevee got about 5 or 6 episodes where its actually seen outside its ball.

Gary's Umbreon got only a few eps. May's Glaceon got 2 eps. Zoey's Leafeon has been in 1 ep.

How is this, "good screentime?" The other Eevee forms were owned by filler characters, but not by the main cast.

I've never cared about the amount of screentime anything ever got.

Some people care about screentime for certain Pokemon.

I was always a bit disappointed with the lack of screen time Eevee and it's evolutions got, but to be fair, as much as I love it, Eevee is a bit of a one-trick-pony.

Yes and no.

Yes because Eevee has the most evolutions which you think the writers would play more upon.

No because if every main character got then it'd become too redundant.

Eevee is a personal fav of mine, and I liked the way it was handled so far.

Dawn's Cyndaquil was handled better than May's Eevee though, as far as egg pokemon.
