Version 18 Wrapped up, and Version 19 began. Engie secretly began making preparations for the big event, including bribing the overlord @Enzap; to ensure that his battlefield would be ready.
Although the Rockets fought well, their defenses crumbled in the face of Plasma, ending Version 19, and bringing us to this very moment.

Well hello there everybody and welcome to this very exciting version of Up vs. Down!
Before I truly begin this thread I would like to give credit where credit is due. Although strictly speaking, I am the host of this thread, I consider this thread to be co-hosted by @Rainbow Cloud; and myself. Among other things, RC made the lovely image I will be using as the eye catch for this thread.
This thread is commemorating the 20th “anniversary” of the Up vs. Down threads. In honor of this glorious occasion, I figured I’d resurrect the longest and greatest of all the Up vs. Down battles. Incidentally, this was also the very first Up vs. Down thread that I participated in.
This particular version started December 15th, 2014 and continued all the way to January 31st, spanning 301+ pages and 4515 posts of the actual battle.
As top poster in this glorious battle, I alone had 835 posts in this thread, which is absolutely ridiculous! @HeroicPooch; and @Fire Fox; neither of you has any ground to complain about not having a life!)
But, alas @BadAssGardevoir; my archnemesis, formed a HIVE mind and managed to defeat Random Punster, but I swore that I’d have my Revenge, and so I shall.
And now, Returning for the very first Up vs. Down Rematch, please welcome Mewtwo and Mew!
In this corner, representing scientific advances, technology, genetic engineering, and all that is right with this world, is the glorious and unparalleled 150th Pokemon, Mewtwo!
In the opposite corner, representing nature, evolution, and elusiveness is the rascally Mew! Mew was the ancestor of all Pokemon before it was cool!
These two combatants are once again out to prove which is truly superior: science or nature, clones or originals, in a thread that I like to call:
Up Vs. Down Version 20: Mewtwo Strikes Back Harder!
(RC has a different name for this thread, which you’ll see in the eye catch.)
Okay, with all that fluff and nonsense out of the way, let’s get down to the nitty gritty.
As I said at the end of last version, please do read the rules carefully as there are some new ones to Reflect the needs of this thread. Also, you never know when I might try to pull a fast one, so reading the rules carefully is always a good idea anyway.
Rules:
- Game starts at 500
- Mewtwo’s Clones can only count up by one point per post with the goal of reaching 1000.
- Mew’s Originals can only count down by one point per post with the goal of reaching 0.
- Players can choose to play for either team but you cannot change teams after you have chosen.
- No ping-ponging rule still applies which means you cannot make another post in the thread until at least two other users have made a post since you last posted.
-Mentions are permissible, though mass mentions of the entire team are still banned. You may mention up to three people per post.
-Anyone in violation of the above rule regarding mentions will be eaten by a Killer Bunny, and will need to delete their post. Said post will not be used for official scoring purposes.
- If an official score tallying is needed, I reserve the right to officially pause the thread until I can tally the posts and calculate the official score. Since I am not yet a Moderator, I cannot close the thread while I am counting, so any posts after my post wherein I pause the thread will be ignored and will need to be deleted before I will unpause the thread.
-Since this thread is co-hosted by Rainbow Cloud, Rainbow Cloud can also perform official tallies, which means that Rainbow Cloud can also pause the game for official scoring purposes.
- If an official score tallying is required, and RC and I are unavailable or not responding to mentions, please summon a Moderator @Kakuna Matata; @Enzap; or @ScarletSky
. If a Mod summoning occurs, please pause the thread until the Mod arrives whereupon they can tally up the scores. -There will be no tie rule in place for this thread. That means that this version will not end until a victor is declared by the score reaching its end goal for either team.
-If there is a discrepancy in the scores, assume that my scores are correct because I go back and fix my posts based on ninjas and run occasional score tallies. I am fallible, and if you believe my score to be incorrect, let ME know, and I will either fix the score or I will explain why my score is correct.
Now for the rules unique to this thread: Some of these should go without saying, but I’ll say them anyway to cover my bases.
-Just because this is a rematch does not mean that you need to participate again if you participated in the previous Mewtwo vs. Mew.
-If you are a Returning poster, you do not have to choose the same side you chose in the previous match.
-Participants from the previous Mewtwo vs. Mew should note that I switched things up a bit. Mewtwo is now counting up, while Mew is counting down. I like to keep people on their toes.
-Yes you may participate in this version even if you did not participate in the previous match.

As promised, this thread features my triumphant Return to the battlefield in Up vs. Down, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone as to which side I am choosing. It should also come as no surprise which side Rainbow Cloud will be supporting.

Yes, as I hinted at in the ridiculous narrative above, part of the reason I gave myself the username Maniacal Engineer and part of the reason I was making musical references in my ^ vs v thread titles was so that I could use Army of ME for the song title for this thread. IT WORKS ON SOOO MANY LEVELS!!!!! even though the song itself isn’t so great…
