Yay art thread. :D

Fangcat, one of my oldest fake Pokémon, with a spiffified design

For comparison, the one I designed and drew when I was eleven looked like this. xP Improvement, much? (Also my old random n00bish information and its completely symmetrical pre-evolution included in the picture as a bonus, just to make you lose all respect you ever had for me.)

Oh, and if you're interested, the sketch from which the new one was made.

All comments and criticism appreciated. =]

On the new one, that is.
 
Oooh, love the shading on that! I'd say the design definitely improved. ;D If I had to make a crit, the neck looks a bit thin to hold up such a big, solid head, and the eye looks rather flat (but then again, a lot of Pokemon's eyes look kind of flat).

Aaaand it's Tancat, the little kitty that's so adorable that you wouldn't believe it evolves into one of the top Pokémon used in horror movies until you actually see it happen.

I know the paws are odd, but don't look at the paws. Look at that adorable face and innocent blue eyes. It will charm you... yesss...
 
I present Mementity (working title), a possible replacement for Molzapart in The Quest for the Legends version IALCOTN and forgotten fourth of the D/P legendary trio, who represents memory and imagination. More information here.
 
I think you did a fine job of shading the wings. I was going to recommend maybe darkening the areas of shading closest to the mid-wing ridges, but I think that's more of a choice of style, since your style of shading is just really soft and it works (as it did for the Fangcat picture). I do think the shading on the left wing looks a bit more believable (3D) than the shading on the right wing--that might be because given how close the right wing is to Charizard's flame (which I'm assuming is the light source) one would probably expect more contrast between the light and dark areas on the right wing than on the left, and also for the dark area near the right wing's mid-wing ridge to not extend all the way down to the bottom of the wing.

...Or I could be just a babbling nutcase. *is really not very good at lighting/shading at all*

Three of the main legendaries of The Quest for the Legends

From left to right: Chalenor (fake Pokémon); Chaletwo (who yes, has the body of Mewtwo; if you're dying to know why I'm afraid you'll have to read the fic); Mew. It has its problems and Chaletwo probably looks extremely incorrect since I've never drawn Mewtwo before and did not have any reference, but I actually rather like it overall. Maybe I'll color it... Drawn on some German work, as you'll be able to tell if you know German.
