I don't know about you, but I actually opted for Diamond when Plat was on shelves. Personally, I've seen artwork/character design from the latter, and I am no fan of the aesthetic overhaul. Your two cents.

I didn't see really much of a difference in artwork really.

And I'm not going to judge a game based on artwork or designs for it. I enjoyed Diamond, and then when Platinum was announced I found out it was just the DP story again with some added things, so I decided to buy it as well.

If you base games solely on artwork and character designs, you'll end up missing out on some pretty good games.

I dunno, I got Platinum over Pearl for pretty much that reason. I decided that given the relative few differences overall, I'd rather play a character in a winter coat

Tullio

That was actually one of the turn-offs for me. The reason I've enjoyed cartoons like Camp Lazlo is the feel of the care-free dog days of summer. Winter is cold and heavy.

I didn't pay much mind to the change from summer to winter clothing, and I felt like some of the sprites were vastly improved - for example, I like the Platinum Shinx sprite a heck of a lot more than the Diamond/Pearl one.

I mainly got Platinum for gameplay and mechanic reasons, rather than for aesthetics. Some of the sprites being more pleasing to me was just a bonus. But I can understand if some of the changes weren't to people's tastes, and I get your point about winter and summer.

Oh, another gripe: Is it just me, or did they transplant the Sinnoh BF into HGSS?

You're a little late on this realization.

They did, much like the Emerald BF in FR&LG.

FireRed and LeafGreen don't have a Battle Frontier...
