As we all know, Pikachu is Ash's starter, and because of this, it has given him credibility beyond measure. Pikachu has had some iconic matches, and despite the fanbase's lack of caring anymore in recent generations whether it gets used or not because it is there every season, it is also safe to assume that it will be used in EVERY League Ash is in.

Charizard has gotten not only iconic storylines in terms of going from a disobedient pokemon, to one of Ash's star players. No matter how much some fans may believe Charizard should of never returned, it very well did and had some excellent matches to boot!

But there's no reason to state the obvious any longer for them seperately, but in terms of Ash's League history, it's always come down to either Pikachu or Charizard as the last man standing, eventually being taken out though.

With that said, is it safe to assume, that when Ash finally wins a League, Pikachu or Charizard will win it for him? I understand that Ishuu has no other pokemon but their own region's with the exception of PIKACHU and MEOWTH, however, Ash could very well rotate later on.

Also, is it truly fair for these to to be the victors of Ash's victory? Is it very predictable?

Pikachu yes. Charizard? No. It is no more special then Sceptile or Infernape, the powerhouses of Hoenn and Sinnoh.

But Pikachu is an obvious yes if he ever does win.

^ Exactly what I was going to say. Of course Pikachu, it's his first pokemon and one which goes around with him everywhere. I don't see why Charizard is any special. Think of infernape, for example.

Pikachu. As the final player in a team of six. The other five being Pokemon that have been significant symbols of Ash's growth as a trainer. i.e Charizard, Sceptile and Infernape.

I can see Pikachu be a big part of Ash's league win but as of right now I don't see charizard. He hasn't made an appearance since near the end of battle frontier.

I see pikachu doin it for him because pikachu is always ash's ace in the hole. When pushed they have attendancy to become truly connected and do magnificant things. However, should Charazaid ever return (and i honestly would like to see that) as big and bad as he should be from all the training in charizard valley and being we haven't seen him for 3 regions he should have gotten so strong that he could wipe the floor with most pokemon.

Yes, we should expect Pikachu to win him a League victory. Charizard? No, because its just about always Pikachu that he falls back on and seeing as that would be a true milestone for the character, it would be stupid for the writers to have him win with any other pokemon than his starter. Also, we've gotten no mention of Ash's old pokemon so Charizard's basically in developmental limbo for now.

True, Pika has had a lot of significance, and Ash does tend to use him as a last resort, but I cannot say for certain if it will ultimately be the pokemon that finally wins a league, mostly because I don't believe it's important who will win, as long as Ash wins as a whole. They could have Kingler indeed return and win for all we know, maybe even one of the Juniper rotation pokes. In the end, though, I do believe we will see Pika stand with Ash unless something like Orange happens again, where he got to have a picture with all 6 of the pokes he used. Somehow, I don't think they will, since the league has returned to featuring many of Ash's pokes rather than just a few of them.

I would adore it if Charizard was the deciding factor in Ash's first league victory, but realistically, that's as likely to happen as bringing back the female companions. Charizard may have been a defining character in the first series, but the series isn't aimed at the fans that will remember him. If Ash ever wins (which I think he will soon) then it will be with Pikachu.

Pfft. Ash'll catch a wild Beedrill swarm AND a Gyarados sooner than Charizard will return again.

No to neither, and partly because I don't think Ash will ever win.

He has to win eventually. What would be the point of showing the same shit over and over? I wouldn't be surprised if Charizard does the bulk of the work and Pikachu finishes the fight with barely a scratch on him that is if the winning a league closer than Unova or at least a region with older Pokemon in it. A lot of fans want Ash to become champion of Kanto because he is from Kanto that makes sense to me. I can definitely see a repeat of the conclusion of the Drake fight in the Lance fight. If Ash has to fight Ritchie, I can see Pikachu being used first and Oshawott beating Sparky.

I voted "Yes", but for Pikachu. Charizard may win some matches (as will many of his Pokemon) but Pikachu is the mostly likely candidate to win the final round of the final match.

Well, Ritchie hasn't been seen in a good while lol though I wouldn't mind seeing him again. Ash winning the Leage back in Kanto is one of the 3 ways i've always imagined the series would end. And while I think Ritchie would appear and Ash would defeat him, ultimately I think Gary would be his final opponent. <-Of course this only concerns the League in Kanto or the Silver Conference, since they have the same Elite 4. (But strangely 2 different League competitions)

It would really just be one of those heartwarming moments if it was Pikachu that won him his first (2nd) League victory.

What would be nice is if Ash won a league, say the Unova league, the "Champion league" could take place in Kanto, giving the show fitting closure that way.

As for the topic, yeah Pikachu will probably be the final victor. As odd as this is to say, we don't even know when or if Ash will ever use older pokemon again. And in the case of the Kanto starters...they haven't been used since 2006.

Pikachu...yeah I could accept that. While I'd prefer almost anything else, he's Ash's first Pokemon and the series mascot.
Charizard though, when did he last show up, like 200 episodes ago? Infernape has well surpassed him as Ash's second most developed Pokemon, the fat orange lizard has already had his glory days.

LOL, its kinda funny because each gen the last fully evolved starter comes back:

- Charizard returned in Johto and AG
- Sceptile returned in DP against Darkrai

I highly suspect Infernape/Torterra and maybe the entire Sinnoh team to get a battle at some point in BW after the league.

So we may not be seeing Charizard again.

I doubt we'll see Charizard or any other Kanto pokemon at the Unova League, however I do think we'd see some for the Champion League. (Depending on which Champion he's challenging).

As much as it would bore me to watch, I'd be incredibly surprised if Pikachu wasn't the Pokémon that won Satoshi his first League going by previous leagues where it was often the final Pokémon used (against Nyarth and Latios).

As to if it should be the one to win: hell no imo.

Gonna say no to Lizardon though. I don't think it anything more special then other Pokémon on Satoshi's team.

Charizard was not the only or the first Pokemon to disobey Ash but it disobeyed Ash because it was too powerful for Ash to have, it was the first and one of the only 3 pokemon to beat a legendary, AND it was the Pokemon that beat Gary Ash's first rival. Not only was Gary his first rival but Character's like Harrison and Ritchie debut near the end. Ash didn't have anyone else like Gary until the tenth season. If the writers stopped caring about Charizard they wouldn't have it in the FIRST and the LAST Frontier battles. As everyone knows thing which are first or last are the most significant. The reason why they didn't have him in the Sinnoh League is A: that would be one hell of a flight for Charizard and B: they had enough going on what with Gliscor Paul and Quilava. My point is Charizard is very special so special that it should only used at the right time and place. The last fight of the series is the right time but Unova is not the right place. But if Ash decides to face the Kanto E4 and he's has to use Charizard.
