Hi guys. I recently thrilled with how useful water shuriken has been to Ash-Greninja in battles. From multi hit attack to single OHKO strike to water equivalent blast burn to melee weapon to high speed rotating splicers etc.

Is this the first time a single move can be improvised to such states?

This isn't new. The anime has repeatedly had moves utilized in ways outside of their original purpose. I think a really great example are Pokemon Contests, Sinnoh more so than Hoenn and Kanto, if you want to see move improvisations. In fact, the Diamond and Pearl saga in general is full of them. Another example is Ash's Counter Shield.

Oh that breakdance with energy flowing out forming some dome.

Sometimes improvisation made up to the lack of outstanding moves a Pokemon has.

I didn't like how Water Shruiken was made into a powerful move. Yes it is the anime but I still found that inexcusable. By making it that powerful in anime, they made Ash-Greninja OP which is not that kind of thing that Ash should have in my opinion.

Water Shuriken isn't the only move that got improved. Cut is just a boring HM in the games, but look how Greninja's been using it in the anime - it's practically a sword. I do like the improvements. Adds more variety to how the moves can be used. It would have been boring if Water Shuriken simply stayed the same as the games.
