Well the opeaning has been updated and Paul has err um one more Pokemon? Added to his line up. Does that mean Ash will be getting some more too? The writers normally love to match Ash Pokemon agianst Pauls, so yes I am curious about that. Any one have opinions on this?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ash got another one. It's more a question of who gets kicked to make room (Six Pokemon limit, natch).

There's really no doubt in my mind that Ash will get another Pokemon. But the only question is what Pokemon gets oaked. It would be a tough choice.

I do see him getting one more simply because they loaded him down too quickly with six guys.

Personally I think Gliscor's looking like the one to be oaked or benched simply because it will be fully evolved soon and won't be able to do much afterwords.

As I already stated, I didn't want Ash to get another Pokémon. He have good team in which there are two Pokémon with two evolutions (Chimchar and Turtwig) and two Pokémon with one evolution (Staravia and Buizel). And since he already have full team, he can concentrate on training and evolving his actual team. There still are Dawn and Brock for new captures, so why bother with Ash?

Maybe Ash could get another pokemon. I mean I think that after Gligar evolves, after its last gym battle, it would get Oaked and Ash can catch another pokemon. Possibly Riolu, I don't know? But I think that if Paul could pull off using 7 pokemon, then I think Ash can too.

Not to mention, Sinnoh looks like it will last a long time so I'm not worried about how they're handling evolutions. I mean Staravia is sure to evolve and maybe Buizel's "Treecko-ness" will have it evolved too. Then I see Chimchar evolving all the way to combat Paul and prove him wrong and I think Turtwig will evolve once to Grotle. Going by that and the length of Sinnoh so far, I think it's possible for Ash to have these evolutions AND a new pokemon.

Peno Did you read what I said? In the opeaning Paul has an extra Pokemon, normally they like to match Ash Pokemon agianst Paul. That's why I made the topic in the first place. If I didn't see that I wouldn't have made this, it was all pretty much speculation till this point but it looks like its getting more and more possible for one of Ash Pokemon to get oaked and for him to get a new one. But yes I like Ash team he has now and I wouldn't have minded it if he had kept it that way. Just a question from todays newest Japan opeaning add on. Well any ways it was meant to be offending what I said, just sayin.

I actually think the 7th pokemon is a good idea because when the league comes, if Ash just uses all Sinnoh pokemon + Pikachu, then he'd have an automatic reserve to switch up the line up of his team during the six vs. six. I mean it makes sense since Ash can't possibly just use six pokemon in the league, it makes things too predictable on who's going to be used. At least with 7 pokemon, Ash has that opportunity to switch it up a bit.

Besides, realistically, it wouldn't make sense for a trainer to just have six pokemon throughout the competition knowing that the weaknesses can't all be covered with a limited number of six pokemon.

I didn't watch new episode and opening still, but from what I know, they just add Paul's Gliscor and Magmar and Ash's Gligar to the opening. And they have these Pokémon for at least 8 episodes. So, no new Pokémon.

He's bound to get more when he has a full team this early in the series. I bet Glion will be Oaked or traded within six months of evolution.

I see Gliscor Oaked for the snowy trek up to Snowpoint, mainly because it has a 4x weakness to Ice. Then Ash catches Snover/Riolu/Hippopalates, that Pokemon of course being the new Glalie. Then I see that Pokemon being Oaked and Gliscor being brought back for Volkner, since he's a Ground type and invulnerable to Electric attacks.

I agree with this theory 100%.

Ash never cared for type advantage. Pikachu against Roark? Turtwig vs. Chimchar? No, he may use Gliscor, maybe teach him an attack that gives him advantage against Ice (presumably Fire Fang), or debut U-Turn, which would be really cool.

Now I see this happing too, Riolu and Hippoalates mainly, if that happens that means he needs to oak two of his Pokemon. They keep having these two guy's poping up with Ash for some reason. But will have to see I guess.

Pikachu against Roark was because Pika has Iron Tail, which is super effective against Rock. Aipom had Focus Punch, and Turtwig had Razor Leaf. He cared about type advantages. He only used Turtwig vs Chimchar to prove a point to Paul. He used Staravia in a Grass and Fighting Gym, which is where they're super effective. Chimchar in the Fighting Gym because it's super effective against Lucario's steel type.

This is much better than Hoenn when he used a Grovyle against Altartia, a Flying and Dragon type(though Grovyle won) and Swellow vs 2 Rock types, though it won. I think the writers are doing a better job of type matchups, and Gliscor in an Ice gym spells trouble.

I don't think we should worry much about the "which Pokémon gets oak'd" thing since I bet Ash'll rotate the Pokémon frequently so they all get a chance.

Not that it'll be that noticable, though, considering how little screentime the Pokémon he has now get - so I think it could work just fine.

The only way I see Ash having 7 pokemon on his person is if he takes pikachu off his main roster, and I don't mean oaking it I mean not having pikachu in the party it would still be with him but he could still only use six

I don't see how that would work....

On hand, a trainer is allowed to carry up to 6 Pokemon only, regardless of whether or not they're using all of them to battle with. I'm pretty sure that's how the rule works.

As for Ash's Pikachu - I think it would still be counted as a Pokemon that stays inside its ball (even if it's not being used for battle).

Getting back on topic, I'm almost positive that Ash will catch another Pokemon. Personally, I'd really like him to catch Riolu, because of that Aura storyline! On the other hand, it doesn't seem likely that he'll get Riolu, since Ash doesn't want to be an Aura Guardian. So I'm thinking the writers will probably give Ash an Ice type, since he currently has no Pokemon with Ice moves on his team.

Gligar can cover that when it evolves into Gliscor. It can learn Ice Fang. Heh.
