Ash and Paul... Two trainers with different view... I don't think Paul is much stronger than Ash as a trainer. Paul's pokemon are stronger than Ash's in Sinnoh just because Ash caught them in this region and Paul uses his best. I really don't know how will end their battle in Sinnoh (i am sure it would be). But I really would like to see that Paul will begin to respect Ash as a trainer

I hope Ash has Infernape by then, but given how long it took to get Monferno, I doubt it.

Even though he doesn't even have Monferno yet, but whatever... I would prefer Chimchar to stay in it's base form throughout the journey, to really show it's potential.

Anyway, Paul is actually Ash's only rival besides Gary now, and Gary isn't into battling anymore, so I really hope that there will be a final battle between Ash and Paul in the Sinnoh League. Then again, I was expecting to see Ash and Gary face off at the Indigo League as well, and got fooled, so only time will tell. The result of the battle... well, it's really impossible to predict it now.

But I think Ash will win it, and maybe Paul will change in personality as well, like Gary. Although it's kinda nice to have a character like him in the show now, so I hope he won't change anytime soon.

Really, Paul is more effective. The only way Ash ever has the edge is when Paul screws up (such as over-working his Pokémon into exhaustion or disobedience), and not when Ash does something good.

I have been wondering why a lot of Ash starter pokemon have to do that and not evolve: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, tododile, cindaquil etc...

Paul I think usually goes for strength over anything else. He does not understand the true nature of being a trainer, learning and growing and training pokemon from weak to strong. Ash understands this and he should win, not just because of that, but be cause he has adapted special training techniques like using Dawns contest idea of the pokemon spinning in battle and dodging pokemon is a good strategy Ash could use.

Ash will have to try other tactics other than brute strength to overcome Paul and with special training techniques, he could do it.

Well, I've said this many times before, and it's probably to showcase that Ash is skilled enough to win, even with Pokémon that aren't fully-evolved. Same thing with Ash winning even in a type disadvantage.

And I agree with you about Paul. He might be strong, but that's all he'll ever be if he keeps this up. Just a strong trainer, who doesn't understand the true nature of being a trainer. Which is why I hope he's going down.

Love>Power

I hope Ash does win so he can teach Paul that if you show a pokemon love it'll get stronger and power only ends up in failure.

I do hope Ash beats Paul in the Sinnoh league instead of dragging things out like they did with Gary.

Because Ash didn't beat Gary in Indigo he got stretched out to Johto too, but Gary hardly showed up, so it felt like the rivalry lost its luster.

I think its best if the Ash/Paul rivalry ends at the end of Sinnoh, I have a feeling if they stretch it out beyond that Paul's character will get stale and people will lose interest in the rivalry.

Seconded. I'd love to see that play out, and part of me hopes that Moukazaru on the Movie 12 poster is just there to throw us off (y'know, it appears in the movie but it's not Satoshi's, that sort of thing). But I doubt it...

Uh....no. Monferno is Ash's.

For the last time Ash is going to have a Monferno and there's nothing stopping them from rushing to give him a Infernape, Sinnoh is not going anywere there is a lot of time for them to do that.

I don't think Ash will have Infernape in Sinnoh. I think it will be just Monferno. And Monfereno is the only pokemon in his team who can stand a chance against Torterra.

I don't think there's know reason for Ash to not have a Infernape in the Sinnoh region. There's plenty of time for him to have a Infernape so he can use it against Torterra in the Sinnoh league and is not going to be a Monferno forever its better if they rush it so it can be a Infernape.

Loving your Pokemon is all very well and good, but the reason Ash will spank Paul's butt eventually is because he's flexible and learns from his mistakes. He is capable of using strategy when he actually decides to think about what he's doing. Paul is all about power. He has no finesse. It's like putting Jackie Chan up against a weightlifter- the other guy may have sheer brute strength, but that doesn't do him much good if he can't actually land a hit on Jackie before Jackie lands blows on him.

Staraptor says hi.

by the League,Paul will get two powerful pokemon which I mean Magmartor and Electivire. beside Staraptor, Ash should get at least Infernape and Floatzel to beat Paul.

there is no rivalry between Chimchar/Monferno and one of Paul's pokemon yet, I guess Infernape vs. Magmartor would be the last and more epic battle between Ash and Paul.

Thats not 100% about magmortar and electrivire, but good assumption. And Ash buizel does not need to evolve to floatzel to be powerful, it already is, remember it put up a good fight with Wakes floatzel so I don't see why it would evolve

I don't think Paul will have Electivire and Magmortar. I think he will have pokemon he has now. If Paul has Magmortar, Electivire and Torterra Ash can't win even if his Sinnoh pokemon evolve. Paul team would be too strong to beat..

But as we have seen many times throughout the series, evolving doesn't necessarily make them TOO strong.

So, Chimchar vs. Torterra or possibly Monferno vs. Torterra seems like a good match already.

Although I do wonder what Pokémon Paul will use. I think we all know that if there is a final confrontation between Ash and Paul, it will be a six-on-six battle, and I'm sure Paul will have many new Pokémon by that.

wasn't Grovile was powerfull too, and he evolved.

Ash's team before Movie12:
Pikachu
Grotle
Staraptor
Monferno
Buizel
Gliscor

there are enough times for Ash to evolve at least one or two pokemon.

I don't think Paul will keep kanto pokemon with him forever.

Shinji has more powerful pokemon than Satoshi besides Satoshi rarely let's his pokemon actually battle with oppoenets other than Team Rocket and they don't get much experience points Shinji has an Electabuzz,Ursaring,Torterra,Weavile, and a Gliscor he will defenetly beat Satoshi at the Sinnoh League
