So there's a thread for Ash's Worst Battles... where's his best? XDD Or if I missed the thread, you may go ahead and take care of this.

Which of Ash's battles had been the best? By BEST, it could mean by power, skill, strategy, choice of pokemons, or anything else.

Best of the best: vs Paul(Ash used strategy, and even though Buizel/Torterra were fall guys and Gliscor/Infernape were glorified,it actually showed that Ash had finally done something important as a Trainer (would fit better if he won the Sinnoh League)

Another great battles were vs Drake, Gary, Brandon, and even some nice Gym Battles (vs Clair/Candice for example)

I watched this one the other night, but Volcanic Panic of the first season has a pretty good battle between Charizard and Magmar considering most battles from the 1st season were oneshot KO's.

There's also the Hoenn League with Ash vs Harrison, and Ash vs Morrison. The above post says true about those battles.

For me, those battles were the best battles of the history on Pokemon. Those battles are:
Ash vs Drake in the ending o the Original Islands.
Ash vs Blaine II in the Kanto saga.
Ash vs Clair in the Johto saga.
In the Johto League, Ash vs Gary and Ash vs Harrison were clearly excellent battles.
In the Hoenn saga, I don't remember many battles but I think that the Hoenn League full battles were good (although a bit rushed).
In the BF saga, there were Ash vs Noland, and the battles against Brandon and I think that Ash vs Tucker were really good.
In Sinnoh, there were really good battles. For example, Ash vs Roark (specially because there are the 1st Gym Leader), The two Gym battles vs Maylene, Dawn vs May inthe Wallace Cup, Ash vs Fantina, Ash vs Paul first full battle, Zoey vs Nando, Dawn vs Zoey, Ash vs Volkner and the final Ash vs Paul (3 episodes!!!!!).
And in Unova the best battles are Ash vs Striaton Trio, Ash vs Skyla and Brycen, Stephan vs Montgomery, Ash vs Iris II (Krookodile), Ash vs Stephan and Ash vs Cameron*.

I love those battle that were really good by pokemon standards. I need to rewatch some of them but I think that all those battles are good except one big exception.

*The big exception is that battle that will be remembered from the fandom as one of the worst battles of the franchise. Pikachu vs Lucario was good but the rest was awful.

Some of my favourites:
Ash vs Lt Surge
Ash vs Drake
Ash vs Falkner
Ash's Heracross vs Scizor
Ash vs Gary
Ash vs Harrison
Ash vs Spenser

Ash vs Trip 1
Ash vs Trip 2
Ash vs Cress
Ash vs Chili 2
Ash vs Iris Club battle
Ash vs Cameron
Ash vs Montgomery

I would LOVE to consider Ash vs Gary 1st full battle in the Johto League BUT there were just too many one hit knockouts and ridiculous moves that should have never worked like Heracross taking a point-blank Fire Blast/Flamethrower combo by simply flapping its wings. And Ash NOT using Pikachu!

Both of Ash x Paul full battles;
Ash x Kikuno;
Ash x Drake;
All Ash x Brandon;
Ash x Harrison;
And... Well, there aren't any others that comes into my mind. @_@

even though Buizel/Torterra were fall guys
Uhm, Buizel wasn't a fall guy, it even defeated Gastrodon. I guess you were talking about Staraptor.

Ah, yes. As sad as it is to recognize this (Back to when I was a little boy, I was nearly exploding in excitement while watching it), that wasn't a good battle. >:

While the issue with the rampant OHKOs and Heracross tanking a fire blast to the face is valid, I would think Pikachu not being used was a good thing especially since Umbreon was also not used.

Yeah, back when I was a kid (and didn't overthink every little detail) I thought it was a great battle. There are just too many things to dislike about it now.

Tauros was out with one Hyper Beam
Scizor with one Flamethrower (no surprise there though)
Nidoqueen with Ice Punch
Bayleef with an innovate way of using Blastoise's Bite attack
Arcanine with Hyper Beam
Heracross with Hydro Pump (those fire moves from Magmar were "ineffective" due to it using its wings to blow the flames away :p)
Golem with Dragon Rage (this was the one that really upset me the most due to the move having set damage of 40HP in the game)

This battle had so much potential and seeing Pikachu excluded is a shame since it lost to Eevee and then Electavire showing that the only good Pikachu in a Gary battle means that it is just an inspiration to move on to another region or something...

Tauros was out with one Hyper Beam
Well, I thought that match against Nidoqueen was extremely badass, even today. I still remember my "Woooooow" when I saw Tauros being knocked away and away, then to faint, haha.

Bayleef with an innovate way of using Blastoise's Bite attack
I found that quite interesting, mainly because Gary counter-attacked Ash with the same technique.

Arcanine with Hyper Beam
Golem with Dragon Rage (this was the one that really upset me the most due to the move having set damage of 40HP in the game)
Now these were unbelievable. I forgive that Heracross match because 1- it was already damaged from Magmar (I'm not forgiving its DEM bulky, though), and 2- we are talking about Gary's starter, but not such ridiculous OHKOs. >:

IIRC Pikachu was upset due to being left to watch the battle, wasn't it?

True but I love Tauros too bad it had to be out like Torterra without doing much of anything. Yeah, it was interesting seeing Gary doing something that Ash would. I remember Nidoqueen using its tail to jump like Bayleef's using Vine Whip to jump.

Yes, during the "halftime" Misty and Brock pointed out that Pikachu would have the advantage against Blastoise. But it was upset when Ash told him that he didn't sign him up for the battle. I'd be pissed too.

I mean this was probably at this point in his trainer career the battle of his life and he excluded his #1 partner...

I was really mad about Arcanine because it is one of my favorite Pokemon. True Snorlax got STAB from Hyper Beam but still

Probably the Orange Island final battle when Pikachu rode Dragonite's head like a bull and shocked the S out of it.

Let's see...

Almost any battle involving Charizard (except for that screw-up of a battle against Brandon), just because it's Charizard we're dealing with...

Overlapping with that, those gym battles where Ash is getting his butt kicked by the leader's strategy until he figures out how to use said strategy to his advantage (especially the one against Falkner)...

Ash's final battle against Paul, for the sweet karmic payback Infernape dealt...

I might think of a few others later...

One I particularly liked was with the COTD's Scizor in 'Wired for Battle' in Johto. I consider it to be one of the best vs. COTD battles.

The entire Hoenn league. Seriously the hoenn league is what the anime should be like all the time

Ash vs Noland and Ash vs Paul in the Sinnoh League are the ones that really stick out for me. I really can't fault those two no matter how much I try.

There are a lot of really cool fights from the series, but there were a few that really stand out to me in retrospect.

Ash vs Blaine (The second fight was one of the coolest freaking things ever. I mean, seismic toss into a volcano? Are you kidding me? How can you NOT love the sheer freaking insanity of that? It's just--beautiful! >____< )
Ash vs Gary (Yes, there were a few things that were a bit silly about that fight, but that doesn't change the fact that the fight was huge, with such an intense build-up. I don't know whether the fight itself was technically spectacular, or if the build-up to it made it even better, but I do remember squeeing the whole while during the fight as a kid. Watching it now, I feel the exact same way.)
Ash vs. Entei (This technically was a movie fight, so I don't know if you guys count this one, but, even if he ended up losing, this fight was still incredibly epic. I mean, the animation was crisp, the action intense, and it was Charizard actually holding its own to an entity designed not to lose! There is no shame at all in losing against something like that. The fact that he lasted that long--just--one of the best movie fights, IMO)
Ash vs. Paul (The final fight between Ash and Paul was just epic. A lot like the fight with Gary, only better from a technical standpoint. Just--gah! So incredible! >___<)

...I'm sure I can think of others, but now I need to actually rewatch these fights. Like, now. Also, I want to rewatch the Whitney and Clair fights, since I can't remember them vividly enough...though I'm sure, from what little I remember, I'd add those too...once I rewatch it.
