How well would Charizard do agaista foe with such a massive advantage?
 
Come on, Ash's Charizard is Ash's Charizard! It won't ever lose to such a thing.

1)Even if Cilan used offense defense a recipe for success.
2)Yeah, Charizard lost against Dusclops, but it was Brandon, not Cilan!
 
Isn't Crustle also a bug type? And also, are we assuming that the Charizard will listen to Ash?
 
Of course it will listen to Ash, the last time it didn't was 14 Seasons before!

Pokémon v Pokémon, Crustle doesn't stand an inkling of a chance. Charizard fought against an Articuno for crying out loud. And won.

Buuuuut, Black and White Ash at the helm might muck it all up. So ... as long as he steers clear, it's Charizard all the way.
 
I voted for crustle since not only is it a rock type but it has rock wrecker, a move that has a complete advantage over charizard's typing. and it does look like the anime DOES take type advantages into consideration.

oh and as for the fight with articuno, yeah articuno is a legendary pokemon but at the same time... it was still an ice type and there was no way an ice type could beat a fire type in my opinion. especially with moves like overheat and flamethrower.

why yes, i am speaking of the anime.

Except it is possible for Pokemon with a type disadvantage to still win, and especially in the anime. And I think you're forgetting that Articuno could also use Water Pulse.

Anyway, under normal circumstances, I'd say Charizard, unless, perhaps, Crustle manages to land a Rock Wrecker. But there's not always a right answer to these questions when it comes to the anime.

True and I knew that articuno could use water pulse. I never really factored it in though.
 
Charizard's loss to Duscolops was genius writing, they took Ash's most powerful Pokemon and let if fall without getting a win. This highlighted how bad of a mistake it was for Ash to call Siesmic Toss. If the trainer makes a mistake like that, even the strongest of pokemon will lose. I think Crustle would win because of its advantage, power and the fact that Cilan is a good trainer, reconized as a gym leader, not quite Brandon but on a high level.
 
Definitely Charizard, there's no competition there.
 
As long as Charizard avoids that Rock Slide and Rock Wrecker, I'd say he's got this one in the bag. Lets not forget that Charizard has beaten at least two Golem as well (IIRC one was as a Charmander), so Crustle will need one hell of a lucky break.
 
Guys, remember to explain your answers. Just don't say "X wins, hands-down." Either put more thought into your posts, or don't post and just vote in the polls.
 
I personally think that Charizard is really overrated. I don't why everyone is so obsessed with him! (I'm not on my own here I hope) I'm going to have an opinion and choose Crustle. (Partly to because his owner is FABULOUS)

Your not on your own. I completly agree. Crustle and Cilan are awesome. No they are not Brandon but they are very strong. They took down Trips Gurdurr for example. And Skylas Swoobat and Unfezant were faster than Charizard and Crustle destroyed them. Charizard can NOT evade every move Crustle uses but Crustle can use his shell to block Charizards moves. Charizard is very strong but he is overrated and not some almost unbeatable pokemon.
