Ash's height compared to Misty and May

Points to note:

- Misty was taller than Ash back in Kanto. (We all knew that though, right?)

- Ash is relatively the same height as Misty now in AG.

- May was actually an inch taller than Ash in AG1 (WTF!), but afterward Ash either went through a growth spurt or May got shorter.

For those of you who have been saying that Ash hasn't grown at all since Season 1, he's now reached Misty's height. Likewise, May, who is younger than Ash, is actually a few inches shorter than him in the later AG eps.

From what we've seen of Ash and Hikari, they're relatively the same height as well. I'm guessing May and Hikari were fed growth hormones when they were young...which would explain a lot of things.

Thoughts?

Anyway, it's great that Ash has grown a few inches since Kanto. And I'm glad to know that Ash is actually taller than May in late AG. Yay!!!! :-)
 
Funny how Hikari, our next 10 year old jailbait, is the same size as Ash according to this pic:

Jeez, what do they feed the girls in the Pokemon world? Hikari, like May before her, look much older than their age implies and they're tall as heck too.
 
Considering Ash and even Brock are oftentimes a head or two (or six) shorter than adult characters, maybe the girls aren't that tall? :D

And lol, that was hilarious (that thing you said about what they've been feeding the girls on Pokemon). XD!!

Maybe it's neither males nor females but rather, people in general in the Pokemon anime which have very weird and unpredictable growth spurts? ^^
 
If I remember, Solana is taller than Brock. She isn't supposed to be that old, is she? I don't know.
 
What about Lt. Surge? Now that man... was fed something weird. Or he's Hagrid's American relative.
 
The height varies constantly. Sometimes Ash is a head shorter than Brock, other times there's only a slight difference.
Take the latest episode for example:

Not much to talk about there, really.

Plus, between the first and second AG episode either Ash grew over night, or the animators are very very lazy because in the second episode they very about the same height or Ash was a bit taller.
I lean more toward the animators not caring about heights and differences thereof.
 
Reminds me of in Yugioh, how Little Yugi sometimes is EXTREMELY tiny, and other times is bigger.

And with the size-changing Aipom, and the fact...well, Pokemon has pretty lackluster animation, I say size be screwed.
 
That's true. If you go by the pokedex sizes, the anime is way off proportion.
 
Lucy was also taller than Brock, if I remember correctly.

You know, I love Pokemon's style for some reason, at least in the last season, they've come a long way, but it really, really, really bugs me how the animators seem to have no sense of proportion or height consistency. As someone who can't draw people worth nada, I'm appalled that they can't, because even I can keep track of proportion. It's probably much harder with animation, but after hundreds of episodes, you would think they'd get an idea and new animators would be directed a bit more.

I don't know, it just disappoints me I guess.
 
The animation does change from episode to episode.

BTW in the last ep of AG, anyone notice that Tracey was almost the same height as Oak and Delia? Was he always like that?
 
As someone who does draw people, it is conceivable on the fact of getting proportions messed up, and the fact that Pokémon has 15+ animators that switch off on doing shows, only adds to screwy proportions.

If you look at it by animator, usually the better one's have a more consistent sense of proportion, while the lesser ones seem to just lose all sense completely, switching from episode to episode.
