Ash's Muk, how would that Pokemon be handled today?

As we know, Muk was immediately sent to Oak's lab in the same exact episode Ash captured it in Kanto. We didn't get to see it stay on the group at all.

However Muk did have a major battle in the Indigo League against that Bellsprout. It was also brought back in Orange Islands for that one episode with that mayor who abandoned his Bulbasaur, and Ash used Muk to search the sewers. After that Muk was used in the Johto league to battle Gary's Scizor, and then that was the last time he used it. It did get some screentime in one of the hoso specials and we saw it smother Prof. Birch when Ash came home from Hoenn, but that's it.

How would Muk have been handled today though? I see Muk as the same thing like Heracross, Phanpy/Donphan, Glalie and Gliscor, in that its the "oddball capture" of a region of a unique type that Ash gets in his 6th slot.

Does anyone wish Muk got more screentime? For such a funny Pokemon that always liked to smother people, I always wish it was used more often. I am still bitter that the writers didn't have Ash use it in Battle Frontier at all.

After seeing Dawn with Grimer in the Summer School Arc it made me remember Muk and how cool it was. I was thinking for Ash to use it during the Sinnoh League preliminaries or something.

Grimer and Muk are adorable..Mostly in personality, but because of them, I've made sure to always get two grimer in my pokemon games and evolve one of them so i can have both.......though they just rot away in my box, but that's not the point.

If handled today, Muk would smother someone once an episode. Every episode. And have a really annoying voice.

There were wild Muk in that DP filler "The Psyduck stops here" and they had pretty much the same type of voice Ash's Muk had.

And in any case, Ash's Muk smothered someone every time it appeared too, including all those times Ash called Oak on the phone and it smothered him there.

They could actually do really funny Muk-Croagunk scenes.

Muk like smothering Croagunk, who in turn, sits there with the pulsating cheeks and the still face. Or the two ganging up on Brock to give that gag a fresh twist.

If Muk were captured today, it wouldn't be sent immediately to Oak even though Ash only had five Pokemon at the time of capture. Seriously, it still bugs me that the writers did that. What is the point in letting Ash catch a Pokemon only to immediately ditch it with Oak so that we never see it? The same thing happened with Tauros; Krabby was his only Kanto capture that occurred while he had a full team. BOO.

It'd be nice if Muk or Tauros got to rejoin Ash's team semi-permanently during a filler league or something like Donphan did. It's not like they (nor Kingler, who is pretty much screwed at this point) ever even got that much.

Ash would not make such a random capture in this era of 5 a region, sillies.

I could guess Muk would act like Gligar/Gliscor and smother Ash and then we'd have a gliscor/Muk pileup? Or it coming out of pokeballs randomly and smothering Brock, that would be funny. Still upset that Muk has hardly ever been seen, one thing I say, bring it back please!

One of my gripes about Kanto is stuff like this, fun and interesting Pokemon that get Oak'd and/or released.

Oh well, at least Muk wasn't shoved off to a random trainer like Primeape was. At least Muk has a chance of being used again in battle someday, whereas we'll never see Primeape again.

Man, if there's one thing that bugs me about Kanto to this day, its that the writers barely gave focus to Ash's Pokemon outside of Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard and Pikachu.

No wonder they started to limit Ash to "5 captures a region" with the more recent arcs.

If the shows was written the way that it is now I would think Muk would be Ash's sixth "wild card" Pokémon and be used mainly as the comic relief Pokémon for Ash.
