Upon reading Ash's bio in the wiki, I've noticed this pattern:

In Kanto, he Top 16'd once.
From Johto to Hoenn, he Top 8'd twice in a row.

Will Ash gonna Top 4 thrice, starting from Sinnoh?

Non-sequitur-ish: I'm expecting him to be the runner-up from the 7th Generation to the 10th [read: choke four Regional Pokémon leagues in a row before he finally becomes a champion of one).

Not to mention he also won the Battle Frontier, but only walked away with a little plaque. I know it's not a league, but it was like one.

You guys are forgetting that we have Paul here this time, so it could very well come down to them in the finals, assuming we don't get a new Richie/Harrison/Tyson type character for Ash to lose to. But of course, we probably will.

Oh....

So, Paul is getting badges too?

That's interesting.

I didn't know about that cause, you know, I only watch the dub.

(that should've been a given for me though, considering he *is* Ash's rival and everything) ^^o

I'm hoping Ash gets top 4 this time. He still did better in Hoenn since he lost to the champion so going up a rank is definately due.

Well, Gary did as well. Though we do actually get to see Paul's first Gym Battle.

I'd love if the writers actually do a few things with this league, such as make it atleast twelve episodes, a nice mix of new and old Pokemon, and old rivals competiting as well. It'd be awesome if Masamune or Ritchie enters.

Or Jimmy. Nice GS reference, as well as an opportunity for Charizard vs Typhlosion. After all, we already had vs Blaziken, and will likely have vs Infernape with Paul.

I'd be very surprised if he didn't make top 4, if not for the fact that his Sinnoh team currently kind of really sucks compared to his Hoenn team at the same stage.

They're going to run out of Japanese landmass to do for game regions in Generation VI. So unless they want to start adapting China or the US or doing entirely original regions like Fiore or Orre, they might stop making new regions and just have any further sequels feature new Pokemon and new gameplay, with changes to the old landscape. Or do a big series relaunch or something.

Either way, I don't think that Ash will make it through 10 different regions. That would be another 12 years of the anime at this point. Even I don't think the anime series can continue without being relaunched with a new cast at some point. Hell, some of the VAs will be retiring by then. o_O

Er, anyways, I predict 4th for this generation, 2nd the next, and 1st for Generation VI - possibly with an anime series finale. Although if the game franchise is still successful, I'm sure they'll find someway to continue it. At least until they introduce the 1000th Pokemon. That's what has me worried about this franchise - it might have a shorter lifespan than Nintendo's other licenses, because there's only so many new regions and Pokemon you can introduce till you have nowhere else to go. I think we should expect a very extreme gameplay revamp following Generation VI, but for now it's smooth sailing.

Then we get Pikachu Kart, Pikachu Party, and Pikachu Extreme Beach Volleyball.

I still don't see why they can't shift the anime to a new character if Pokemon continues forever.

As much as I like Ash, Team Rocket, and the current continuity, I WOULD like them to have a concrete ending at some point. I honestly don't want to be in my 30's and still watching Ash trying to become a Pokemon Master. (yikes!)

While I don't think the 4th gen will be Ash's sendoff, I would hope the 5th gen is the "climax" of the current Pokemon anime. Meaning Ash, Team Rocket, whatever girl he's with, and all the other former main characters get wrapped up in one neat little package.

Honestly, assuming D/P lasts 200 episodes like AG did, and assuming the 5th gen is another 200 episodes....that'll make the total anime count at almost 1000 episodes. Honestly, by then it's time for Ash to finally become a Pokemon Master and end it there.

That way if we get a 6th gen, it can star new characters and start from square one.

I personally believe that Gen IV will be the last generation (although I wouldn't say no to a Gen V!) If Pokemon does start a new series with some other characters though, you just know that there will be a Pikachu in there somehow.

I wouldnt mind another Gen, but thats were I draw the line, i mean he has to become a master by then or it would justget ridiculous.
I would be happy if they had new characters start all over and maybe not hav a trio of idots trying to steal their Pikachu every friggin eppy.
But Ima not sayin get rid of Team Rocket, I mean, they can get a little too annoying.XP

Eh, I don't think Ash will be done yet.

A lot of people thought Ash was going to win the Hoenn league...but that didn't happen. He probably won't win the Sinnoh league either, somehow the Top 4 sounds like a nice comfty spot for Ash this region.

I have a feeling Ash might win this region's championship. Although I haven't watched the Hoenn League, I think with all excitement and energy in Sinnoh and rivalry with Paul to fuel his training incentive, he's got a good chance at winning it. I'm not sure if the writers might purposely have him rank 3rd or 4th just to extend the anime though.

Never underestimate the writers power to extend the anime. This show has gone on far longer than any of us expected it to, and if they want to keep going, it'll go on for another 10 years. ;)

Oh, but you will be Scott, and you know it.
